Your role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.The work model for the role is: onsiteThis role is contributing to the Electrification Business.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tStudy and search for existing computer and server hardware for processing large amounts of data for AI models and other data•\tResearch and Evaluation: Study existing computer and server hardware configurations optimized for processing large datasets, with particular emphasis on HBM-based GPUs.•\tHardware Modification and Enhancement: Develop methods to convert second-hand HBM-based GPUs into systems compatible with other high-speed interfaces (such as PCIe interfaces), ensuring high-bandwidth data communication and integrity between components.•\tProvide novel approaches to expand the computing capabilities of our research infrastructure, focusing on cost-effective solutions that leverage both new and repurposed hardware.•\tLiving ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues, and the business.

Qualifications for the role

\t PhD or master’s student in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred) in the United States. \tStrong background in HBM-based GPUs and running SOTA AI models, architectures, and Large Language Models (LLMs)\tIntern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite. \tMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future. \tUtilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions\tEffectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines\tDemonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality\tCollaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
