Title: COMPUTER GRAPHIC ARTIST- Visual Merchandise- RFT Location: Japan-Kanagawa-Ken-Yokosuka Job Number: 2500006G MUST BE SOFA (STATUS OF FORCES AGREEMENT) SPONSORED IN ORDER TO APPLY. THIS POSITION IS NOT OFFERING SOFA SPONSORSHIP. Job Summary: Performs work involved in publicizing to internal and external customers for the Navy Exchange NEX events and programs through visual means. Responsible for designing and producing a wide variety of promotional material to include posters flyers brochures invitations certificates promotional displays and 4-color newsletters. Duties and Responsibilities: Composes advertising material artwork from written work request oral instructions rough sketches or ideas conveyed. - Consults with the appropriate activity personnel buyers retail services managers etc to ensure artwork is accurate and conveys the message desired. - Uses the MacPro computer to create promotional material with appropriate software not limited to but including InDesign Illustrator or Photoshop. - Uses digital camera to take photographs for newsletter or other promotional material. - Operates computers copiers printers and digital cameras to produce the aforementioned described media. - May coordinate efforts with external source when necessary to complete a work request. - Maintains and orders necessary supplies. - Maintains records and files work requests. - May supervise associates engaged in marketing advertising functions. - Performs other related duties as assigned. - Works under the supervision of the Visual Merchandising Supervisor who reviews work in terms of achievement of objective effectiveness accuracy and timeliness of completed work requests Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE 3 years experience in professional technical or other graphic art work that involved design and production of advertising promotional or marketing materials. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor s degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 1 year of experience creating layouts using Macintosh graphics and design computer systems or similar computer graphic systems. Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Illustrator Adobe InDesign Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop or similar computer graphic software development and production of various types of advertising promotional and marketing media both electronic and print.
