The Computer Operator V\/Technical Support Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of complex computer systems and networks. The role involves providing high-level technical support, ensuring system availability, and maintaining operational efficiency. This position requires in-depth knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity protocols, and adherence to Department of Defense (DOD) standards, specifically under the DCWF 411 code.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\n
System Management:\n\nOperate and monitor complex computer systems, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.\nPerform routine system maintenance, including backups, updates, and patch management.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.\n\n\n\n
Technical Support:\n\nProvide advanced technical support to users, addressing and resolving escalated issues.\nAssist in the deployment, configuration, and testing of new hardware and software.\nDocument and communicate solutions to recurring issues to improve system reliability.\n\n\n\n
Security and Compliance:\n\nImplement and enforce security policies in accordance with DOD 8140 guidelines.\nMonitor system security, identifying and mitigating potential threats.\nEnsure all systems comply with relevant security protocols and maintain the required clearance levels.\n\n\n\n
Collaboration and Communication:\n\nWork closely with other IT professionals, including network administrators, security analysts, and system engineers.\nCommunicate technical information effectively to non-technical users.\nPrepare and maintain detailed reports on system performance and support activities.\n\n\n\n
Continuous Improvement:\n\nStay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.\nParticipate in ongoing training and development to maintain compliance with DOD 8140 requirements.\nProactively suggest and implement improvements to optimize system performance and reliability.\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\n\n
Education:\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.\n\n\n\n
Experience:\n\nMinimum of 5-7 years of experience in computer operations, technical support, or a related role.\nExperience with DOD systems and adherence to DOD 8140 requirements is highly desirable.\n\n\n\n
Certifications:\n\nRelevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent) are required.\nDOD 8140 compliant certifications are mandatory.\n\n\n\n
Skills:\n\nStrong understanding of computer systems, networks, and cybersecurity principles.\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.\n\n\n\nSecurity Clearance:\n\nMust possess and maintain a Secret Clearance.\n\nWork Environment:\n\nThis position may require shift work to ensure 24\/7 system operation and support.\n\n
