Summary You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT BRANCH (N642), SYSTEMS INTEGRATION DIVISION (N64), INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT (N6), of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Responsibilities You will serve as Computer Scientist for the Software Management Branch. You will be responsible for engineering solutions and managing and maintaining the IT environments supported by the N64 division. You will be responsible for engineering solutions to improve organizational efficiencies. You will manage the middleware, ensuring adherence to standards and guidelines, transitioning software, and performing software administration duties. You will monitor system performance, accessibility, and system logs to ensure operational availability. You will design solutions to meet middleware requirements while maintaining cybersecurity compliance. You will prepare and maintain software/system engineering documentation to meet validated requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience installing and configuring commercial software. Experience integrating, troubleshooting, and deploying Web applications on web and application servers. Experience configuring and utilizing software-based computer protection tools. Experience diagnosing connectivity problems. Experience developing and maintaining scripts to perform system administration tasks such as data file transfers, system monitoring, backups and system configuration. Experience maintaining cybersecurity compliance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and installed software. Experience evaluating and implementing cybersecurity guidelines and Security Technical Implementation Guides. Education GS-12: Basic Education Requirement: Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science. OR Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
