ABOUT THE ROLEPlan appropriate, effective, differentiated, and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversityPlan teaching sessions using learning outcomes found in modules’ specifications and accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources and methods including digital learning techniquesEnsure all learning materials are updated and available on the VLE for students to access and engage withParticipate in the development of module material and layout on the VLE as requiredApply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all studentsSelect the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progressContribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety and safeguarding proceduresApply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, timely formative and summative assessmentUse a variety of consistent methods to check learning in lessons and periodically track and record students’ progress  Ensure that interactive assessment activities are available to students, face to face, online and via VLEProvide regular and timely constructive feedback to students to enable them to improve and achieve their qualificationsPrepare students for summative assessment e.g. exams, coursework, assignments, practical and/ or other required assessments methods Engage in the timely preparation of assessment materials including the creation, marking, moderation and the entry of marks in the appropriate platforms e.g. Progresso and Trackers.Maintain continuous, up to date and accurate records of student attendance and progressRespond promptly and appropriately to lapses in student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and needed application to their future studies, referrals to progress coaches or senior management as necessarySupport students with individual target setting and revise these throughout the year during progress checksSupport student with action planning to improve academic performance and achieve aspirational targetsBe available to offer support to students as required e.g. workshops, booster and revision classesSupport students to progress to the University by being proactive in liaising with University Schools and their link tutorsContribute to student progress reports in a clear, accurate manner using constructive languageStrive for students to achieve and attain high standardsRefer students for learning support where appropriateTake responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students in your careRefer to support services where appropriateContribute to effective communication with stakeholders e.g. parents, sponsors, University and others as appropriateBe aware of and comply with all Centre quality assurance processes such as observation of teaching and learning, audits of teaching and learning material, including VLE contents, programme and module evaluation and subject team performance reviewsDemonstrate and update subject specialist knowledge to ensure the currency of specialist teachingConvey enthusiasm for personal specialist area to staff and studentsEngage in professional development to improve teaching and learning practice, and update subject specialist knowledgeUndertake reflection and self-evaluation of personal teaching practice and continuing professional developmentComply with expectations of all professional conduct regulationsUse student feedback to improve personal performanceWork as part of the Engineering, Science and Computing Team to produce and develop an exciting curriculum for studentsBe prepared to operate on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the Engineering Team and the Centre as a wholeBe available to cover lessons for absent colleagues as requiredPrepare for and participate in appropriate Centre events e.g. induction activity, progression, enrichment, University school events, award ceremonies, surveys and other activitiesPromote a cohesive work ethic within the ESC Department, the Centre and the ISC networkShare best practice and contribute to the ESC Department Teams’ bank of effective resources/ideas/activities for Teaching and Learning and mentoringAttend Department, Centre and Network organised events and meetings in accordance with provided schedulesABOUT YOUA Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willingness to achieve)Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject areaDesirable Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area.Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3 and 4Teaching experience at level 5 and/or 6 desirableThorough STEM subjects’ knowledge, most preferably in Computing subjects and Discrete Maths/Maths for Computing.Experience of teaching International StudentsExperience of developing learning and teaching through digital learning platforms
