Concept Designer

Position Overview

As a member of Shaw’s Visualization team, the Concept Designer will work directly with the design team to deliver creative flooring solutions for A&D firms and end users around the world. We are looking for a talented Concept Designer with graphic and visual design expertise as well as excellent collaboration and communication skills. This individual will work closely alongside members of the department to conceptualize and design compelling flooring solutions for each of our commercial brands and support our internal marketing departments. 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Work as part of Shaw’s Visualization team to generate high-quality 2D and 3D renderings for multiple segments, Corporate, Healthcare, Education and Hospitality and multiple brands, Shaw Contract Group, Shaw Hospitality, Shaw Hard Surfaces, Patcraft, and Philadelphia Commercial. 

Ability to read floor plans and understand product placement and quantities of material needed. 

Create seaming diagrams and calculate quantities of material needed to complete installations. 

Communicate and coordinate with marketing, Custom Design Studio, sales, architects, interior designers, dealers, estimators and customers to ensure desired output is achieved. 

Manage and maintain the creative direction and goals for specific projects and provide accurate time estimates for all projects 

Translate schematic design documents to conceptual drawings, by creating and developing designs; that reflect the existing architecture 

Prepare image assets for website, print and presentation usage for new product  

Collaboration with department designers in the completion of projects 

Review completed projects of work for quality control 

Stay current with market trends to understand competitive landscape 

Maintain positive relationships with customers, sales reps and internal partners and provide exceptional customer service.

Position Requirements: 

High School Degree Required. 

4 year degree in Architecture/Interior Design or related field preferred.

Experience with Revit preferred. 

​ Preferred Position Requirements: 

Minimum 2+ years’ experience with Adobe Photoshop CS, knowledge to include image sizing, layers, image effects(blending, opacity, feathering), filtering & merging, creating masks, using paths, creating/duplicating lighting effects, perspective, color management, and airbrushing. 

Minimum 2+ years’ experience with AutoCAD.  

Experience with Revit preferred. 

Experience with Adobe Illustrator preferred. 

Working knowledge of 3d modeling programs such as Sketch-up. 

A good understanding of perspective (one point, two point and three point) and vanishing point, as well as the ability to understand & interpret architectural drawings. 

Working knowledge of an architecture and design firm’s workflow, from schematics to final design phase as well as the ability to interpret floor plans. 

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
