Things You’ll Do + Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. + Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones. + Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed. + Dig ditches or trenches and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. + Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. + Layout materials for setting concrete forms. + Learn how to set concrete forms for sidewalks and curb and gutters. + Strip, clean and put away concrete forms. Requirements + Must be 18 years or older. + Attention and commitment to safety. + Ability to work well with others in a team environment. + A strong work ethic. + Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. + Ability to bend, sit for long periods, and work in the heat. + Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance.
