Configuration Manager - Space unit
Position Description:

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Configuration Manager to join our team responsible for the Galileo Key Management Facility (KMF) within the Galileo Mission Segment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, traceability, and controlled management of configuration items across all stages of development and maintenance. Galileo, Europe’s global navigation satellite system, is a prestigious space program that provides highly accurate and reliable global positioning services under civilian control.

Your role in our team
As the KMF Configuration Manager, you will be responsible for defining and implementing configuration management (CM) processes, overseeing compliance with applicable standards, and ensuring the proper handling of classified and sensitive information. You will contribute to the mission’s success by ensuring that all contractual, security, and operational requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement comprehensive configuration management plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the Galileo KMF.
• Establish and maintain configuration baselines for hardware, software, and documentation in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ECSS, GSWS, ISO 9001).
• Proactively manage change requests and coordinate configuration changes throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proper documentation, traceability, and compliance.
• Conduct configuration audits and reviews to ensure adherence to project standards, security protocols, and contractual requirements.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date KMF Inventory List, ensuring proper handling and documentation of all classified information and project deliverables.
• Ensure that any deficiencies or inadequacies in configuration processes are identified, corrected, and prevented from recurring through well-documented corrective actions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all configuration management matters within the Galileo KMF project, providing expertise and support to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, security, and operations, to ensure smooth execution of configuration management activities.
• Support external audits, assessments, and reviews related to configuration management processes and practices.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

Education
• Bachelor’s degree (HBO/WO) in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical or management discipline.
Experience
• Proven experience in configuration management within complex systems or project environments, ideally within aerospace, defence, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles, tools, and standards (ECSS, GSWS, ISO 9001, EN 9100, AQAP 2110).
• Ability to execute CM activities with a high degree of autonomy and deliver high-quality outputs under time constraints.
• Demonstrated organizational, planning, and attention-to-detail skills, ensuring effective management of configuration items.
• Comfortable working within a highly integrated system and capable of handling complex challenges in a mission-critical environment.
Desired Qualifications
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., GLPi, PMDB).
• Experience with space projects, preferably within global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) like Galileo.
• Knowledge of handling security requirements for classified information in compliance with project and contractual standards.
Professional Attributes
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and other offices within Europe as needed.
Security Requirements
• Holding an EU passport is mandatory for obtaining an EU Personal Security Clearance at CONFIDENTIAL level or above for this position, this clearance will be a part of the selection procedure.
