If so, The Office of Research Ethics (ORE) at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking exceptional candidates to fill the role of Conflict of Interest and Commitment (COIC) Administrator! The Office of Research Ethics is inclusive of all components of the administration of research regulations and policies, including training and compliance activities for human subjects, animals, biohazards, radiation safety, conflicts of interest and commitment, and export controls. The Unit reports to the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). The ORE promotes an ethical research environment that fosters honesty, integrity, and a sense of community. The research administrators within the office ensure that University research conducted on or off the ISU campus, including collaborative research with other institutions, is conducted in compliance with university, local, state, federal, and funding agency regulations. The COIC Administrator, under limited direction from the Assistant Director/COIC Manager, will administer ISU’s conflicts of interest in research program. The position oversees the conflict of interest disclosure process; uses independent judgment to interpret and apply relevant federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policy; reviews required disclosures; works collaboratively to develop and implement policies, procedures, practices, and training efforts; and is responsible for the conflict of interest disclosure system. The position works independently and directly with ISU employees to provide advice, guidance, and practical application of relevant regulations and policies. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working independently or on a team. Attention-to-detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential to be successful in the position. Additionally, excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication, and creative problem-solving skills are necessary for success. Lastly, the successful candidate will possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. This position will be hired as a Research Administrator II. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely but does require the employee to reside in the state of Iowa on or before start of employment. The successful candidate has the ability to work on-site in Ames if they prefer. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
