The Graduate Student Intern will support the development of “convening event(s)” for Projects for Peace constituencies, focused on the themes of conflict transformation and peace building. They will report to the Director of Projects for Peace and work closely with the Assistant Director and other members of a convening planning group.
Core Responsibilities:.
Research, survey, and assess the Projects for Peace constituents (campus liaisons, current grantees, alumni) to gauge interest in and availability to attend and/or host in-person gatherings, as well as available expertise in conflict transformation and/or peace building and/or related topics. Compile data into usable format for the program.
Support the development of at least one in-person gathering for Partners for Peace constituents that focuses on the theme of conflict transformation and peace building.
Logistics tasks will include assessing potential sites and dates, tracking reservations, coordinating facilities and catering, and assisting in outreach efforts. Programmatic tasks will include contributing to the setting of goals and objectives, communication with constituents, identifying presenters or facilitators, and developing agendas. Assessment tasks will include the development and implementation of tools for measuring participant satisfaction and the achievement of identified goals, and analysis of results, and development of related recommendations.
Create and compile materials that will support a series of convening events for Projects for Peace constituents over the next four years, including planning calendars, templates, tools, and materials that support logistics, program, and assessment tasks. Develop standard operating procedure handbook for future hosts and event organizers to aid in program sustainability.
Develop systems for engaging and fostering community building and networking among constituents before, during, and after the convening events.
As time is available, the Graduate Assistant may be asked to:
