Construction Accounting Manager
Job Title: Construction Accounting Manager Job Description The Construction Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the construction project accounting department. This role also serves as a consultant for construction project managers within the organization, advising them on current budgetary information and working with managers to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals of the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, capable of managing budgets, forecasting financial outcomes, and ensuring the financial health of numerous construction projects within the company. Responsibilities + Prepare monthly accrual entries, account reconciliation, and review. + Act as a liaison between Project Managers, vendors, and clients. + Prepare monthly reports for Accounts Payable for current projects. + Monitor and control project costs against budget plans. + Summarize information and communicate project budgets, variances, and metrics to Project Managers. + Maintain prepaid vendor schedules. + Update prepaid expense and accrued expense reconciliations. + Perform other general ledger reconciliations as assigned. + Maintain the fixed asset database. + Assist in the timely monthly close process. + Assemble required project documents such as invoices, insurance certifications, and releases. + Assist with audit requests from both internal and external parties. + Engage in critical and confidential aspects of financial management. + Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization. + Perform other tasks or duties as required by the VP or CFO. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting or financial management. + Proven knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). + Advanced understanding of construction industry financial practices and regulations. + Proficient in larger ERP software. + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CPA, CMA, or CCIFP certification is preferred but not required. + Strong financial management skills. + Ethical conduct. + Thoroughness and attention to detail. + Customer service orientation. + Problem-solving abilities. + Time management skills. + Effective decision-making skills. + Proficient communication skills. + Strong organizational skills. Work Environment This role is based in a hybrid work environment with the office located in Centennial. Employees are required to be in the office on Mondays and one other day of the week, with the option to work remotely for the remaining three days.
