SUMMARY
The Business Analyst is responsible for the creation and preparation of financial and business models and reports, which are used to identify and develop value-creation opportunities in the delivery of projects to assist decision-makers in making well-informed business decisions.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
For the assigned projects/business cases:
Responsible for gathering project, building, and strategic data to assist in creating and reviewing a Business Case submission to the client for all construction and repair projects exceeding $250,000, which outlines the strategic advantages of the investment concerning their long-term office plan. Collaborate with the Project Manager, Consultant, Property Manager, Heritage Conservation Manager, Capital Planning Manager, Energy Managers, and the Planning & Costing team. Multiple revisions of the business case will be necessary for Project Approval and Expenditure Authority. Collaborates with project managers to integrate the technical details, options, and costs provided by the project team in partnership with their consultants while incorporating the strategic elements from a business and financial analysis perspective into the Business Case. Ensures the ongoing alignment of cost-benefit analyses with the strategic programs and plans for real estate. Develops financial models to assess the viability of options in project delivery using established techniques such as financial forecasting and net present value (NPV), to assist decision-makers in selecting options. For each Business Case, assist the project team in reviewing and developing the business needs, asset condition, prioritized requirements, project scope, assumptions, constraints, viable options, life cycle cost, construction cost, risks, policies and standards, justification and recommendation, and schedule. Generates and compiles data from various internal and external sources using different business intelligence tools and information management systems. Compiles, maintains and analyzes a substantial amount of real estate portfolio data to meet diverse reporting, benchmarking, and analytical needs.Reporting
Prepares various reports, including performance and scorecard reports, to aid business communication and decision-making. Develops and maintains reporting and analytics dashboards using data analytics software, such as Power BI, to visualize strategic data as needed. Creates and shares essential process metrics and information with internal customers.Training
Train team members to correctly operate business and project management tools, processes, and procedures.
EDUCATION, JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (French/English) Excellent writing skills in both French and English. Strong understanding of the building construction process. Good knowledge of financial analysis and decision-making. Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, along with a university degree or professional certification (e.g., P. Eng, OAA, OAQ, PMP, CMA, CGA, AACE, or equivalent courses). Ability to manage large volumes of information and accurately handle extensive datasets. Exceptional attention to detail. Well-informed and experienced in the Project Management process related to Corporate Real Estate and construction projects; some experience with actual project delivery is an asset. Strong skills in data analysis and financial interpretation. Proficient in relational databases, reporting tools, and MS Office, including MS Access and MS Excel, with a proven ability to quickly learn new information management systems such as Power BI. Advanced MS Excel skills, including Macros, pivot tables, and lookup tables. Strong communication skills. Self-starter.Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
