Construction Control Inspector
Summary About the Position: This position is located within the Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Management and Field Support Branch, Bluestone Resident Office, with duty in Hinton, WV where you will function as a Senior Materials Technician Inspector on complicated issues concerning Dam Safety Assurance construction projects and administering construction contracts for Bluestone DSA Mega Project Responsibilities Plan, monitor, and coordinate the work with contractors' personnel and representatives to assure timely and satisfactory accomplishment and compliance of all contract requirements. Review and report sampling and testing procedures completed by lower graded technicians to the appropriate certification agencies. Ensure calibration of all laboratory equipment such as scales, compressive strength equipment, air meters, aggregate drying ovens, measuring devices, and other small tools. Lead the material laboratory staff for the Bluestone Mega Project. Exercise surveillance to assure the Contractor is conducting quality control operations to produce work in conformance with plans and specifications. Conduct monthly supervisory safety meetings with Contractors. GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling and providing Quality Assurance coverage of multiple simultaneous construction projects ranging from basic to highly complex. Extensive knowledge in engineering and surveying methods and techniques. Review, advise, make recommendations, and evaluate contractors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing complex plans, specifications, building codes, industry standards, regulations, and technical manuals to ensure civil works construction Quality Assurance compliance; mentoring and training coworkers or subordinate staff; performing contract document reviews for constructability; conducting analysis of concrete mix designs and grout mix designs and adjustments to improve quality of concrete and improve work ability and uniformity. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Contract Administration Leadership Project Planning, Design, and Construction Quality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: GS-12 Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). GS-11 Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, at the GS-11 & GS-12 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
