OVERVIEW:

The Construction Estimator will work closely with the Construction, Construction Finance, Facilities, Real Estate, Procurement, Legal, and Visual teams to assist with pricing estimate models for projects and ad hoc requests on all DSG store types.

Source materials will include, but are not limited to, architectural project plans, requirements, and specifications, ALTA surveys, as-built documents, conceptual narratives, site visit notes, pictures and observations, and internal prototype evolution concepts. Additionally, the Estimator will assist in qualifying bid packages with the Construction team, prior to award, to ensure accuracy and optimal cost,, Attending meetings with vendors, clients, and architects along with value engineering exercises will also be required as need presents.

In collaboration with Construction, Real Estate and Development, Review project plans, requirements, and specifications and prepare detailed construction estimates for New, Relocation, and Remodel construction projects. Prepare estimates with commensurate granularity for each document phase (Conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)

Maintain historical cost records for all construction projects.

Maintain and update Dick’s prototype cost records for all banners of the chain. Provide cost estimates for prototypical DRBs (Design Revision Bulletin) and RCs (Request for Change)

Understand project logistics and project schedule. Adjust pricing by region, labor force requirements and seasonality as required.

Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks.

Review bid strategy and packages as requested, analyzing bid documents and design drawings.

Support Construction Project Managers and Director of Preconstruction in reviewing and analyzing competitive general contractor bids.

Reviewing and quantifying change-orders, RFI s / RFP s.

Must be confident working with estimating and communicating to teams on projects of varying sizes, and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects.

The Estimator will support and work with management, operations and preconstruction staff in the review of project plans, requirements, and specifications.

The Estimator shall have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles.

Review and update labor and equipment costs as need presents

Perform accurate quantity takeoffs specific to materials pricing.

Review quotes and estimates with the Construction Team.

Comprehends contract requirements for diversity compliance.

Support Director of Construction for yearly capital budgeting.

Site meetings and walk throughs on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management related degree.

3 - 5 Years of relevant experience.

Experience estimating large-scale Construction projects or relevant estimating experience.

Understanding of RS-Means estimating data source (database of current construction cost estimates of industry standards)

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Procor

Presentation and communication skills.

Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project Scheduling.

Extensive knowledge of Construction costs and Engineering principles.

General contractor background.
