ERM is hiring a Construction Health & Safety Manager onsite at a client location in Bowling Green Kentucky, to oversee a major construction project at a chemical facility. This critical role will involve providing on-site observation of construction activities from an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) perspective, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. You will play a key role in fostering a safe work environment by monitoring health and safety protocols, training on-site staff and subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to project-specific safety plans. The position requires strong communication, leadership skills, and a solid background in construction safety. This is a full-time (40+ hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of 6 months, extendable.
Responsibilities:
Drive ERM safety culture on project. Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, its trading partners, and the public.Enforce corporate and project specific safety and health programs and federal, state, and local safety standards.Identify known or potential exposures and recommend corrective action.Develop, coordinate, and implement overall project specific safety programs.Partner with field supervision to ensure safety hazard mitigation measures are included in the planning of project construction activities.Develop project specific safety education for jobsite personnel based upon upcoming work activities or recent at-risk trendsDrive and create a safety vision and aligns the team to deliver and achieve a safe workplace for everyone.Facilitate third party safety reviews including OSHA.Teach safety-related topics.Conduct hot work, LOTO, confined space, energized electrical work, lift/rigging permits as needed.Assist with business plan objective and/or other corporate initiatives including OSHA, and corporate policies and procedures.Exceed our stakeholders’ expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goalsBecome the expert on Project Safety Manuals.Provide on-site observation and oversight of construction activities from an EHS perspective.Train on-site client staff and subcontractors on EHS program requirements and safety protocols.Assist in implementing directives issued by the client’s EHS personnel throughout the project.Monitor compliance with the client’s safety procedures and ensure work follows the approved project-specific safety plan.Maintain safety-related documentation on-site, including safety training records, Job Hazard
Requirements:
5+ years of relevant construction safety experience with an undergraduate degree in safety and health (or related discipline) or demonstrated construction safety and trade experience.Ability to communicate and influence supervisors, peers, and external partners.Proof of training and experience in managing cranes, fall protection, excavation, scaffolds, and heavy equipment safely.Ability to communicate effectively with, persuade, and gain buy-in from a broad range of stakeholders from a new craft worker to senior executive leader.Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) Requirements Strength in managing multiple competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.Agile, energetic, data driven approach to achieving individual and organizational objectives while balancing short term and long-term goals
