Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ Must have experience performing construction inspections of various trades.
+ Must have experience interpreting, coordinating and ensuring compliance with contract documents, change proposals, change orders, RFIs, ASIs, codes, and/or other construction rules/regulations.
+ Must have experience performing inspection services for multiple construction projects concurrently.
+ Must have knowledge of standard construction building materials.
+ Must have knowledge of ASTM standard testing procedures, asbestos abatement procedures and governing regulations.
+ Must have experience with photographic principles and video equipment as they pertain to an active construction site.
+ Must have experience using various standard materials, methods, equipment and tools used for construction processes.
+ Must be skilled in preparing reports, letters, and memos.
+ Must have the ability to read and understand electronic devices/gauges, scales and/or testing data.
+ Must have the ability to explain technical material as it relates to code interpretations and manufacturer installation guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Texas State University construction and design standards.
+ Experience explaining owner’s ( TXST ) concerns, issues, and positions regarding construction matters.
+ Prefer 5+ years’ experience in Construction Management.
+ Prefer 2+ years’ experience performing construction inspections for city, state or federal agencies.
+ Prefer knowledge of International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, National Electric Code and Uniform Plumbing Code for building construction contracts.
+ Degree in Construction Engineering/Management is preferred.
Job Description
Responsible for providing daily inspection of the work of trade contractors on small and mid-size projects to ensure compliance with appropriate codes, laws and standards of construction.
Job Duties
+ Inspect construction project work daily.
+ Require contractor to correct or replace unsatisfactory materials and workmanship.
+ Report deficiencies observed to the superintendent and architect.
+ Inspect all materials delivered to the project for compliance with specifications and shop drawings.
+ Inspect work for completeness prior to certification.
+ Maintain necessary job records.
+ Oversee the work of testing lab personnel.
+ Review any testing lab reports and notify architect and contractor of discrepancies.
+ Provide interpretation of contract requirements.
+ Advise the contractor and subcontractors to maintain and coordinate as-built drawings.
+ Establish punch list items with architect and engineer and contractor for completion.
+ Review contract documents prior to bidding and furnish comments to appropriate personnel.
+ Review project close-out documents.
+ Establish dates for owner’s preliminary acceptance and/or partial occupancy.
+ Initiate and attend pre-installation meetings as required.
+ Support duties of Construction Inspector II as needed.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
