Construction Inspectors (Remote Site Locations)

GPI seeks motivated Construction Inspectors with varying years of experience working on bridges, roads, canals, utilities, and multi-use trail projects to join our team in various locations throughout West Virginia from our Martinsburg, WV office. Ideally, we seek someone with a good work ethic, a desire to learn, the willingness to work collectively with our team, and the ability to work on concurrent projects.

Responsibilities: 

Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractor’s work for heavy highway and/or bridge construction projects, including earthwork, subgrade, asphalt, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, MOT, safety devices, and utilitiesAbility to measure, compute, record, and maintain contract quantities for contractor paymentAbility to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and standardsPerform and/or observe material sampling and testing in accordance with Project standards and specificationsEnsure contractor’s work/materials meet standards and specificationsAbility to properly document daily Project progress, including work performed, conformance/nonconformance with plans/specifications, manpower, equipment, contract quantities, and extra workEntering and recording project progress, materials, and documentation into SiteManager and ProjectWiseIdentifying and communicating project issues to project managers and the contractorAbility to identify, assess, and communicate unsafe conditions with the contractor

Qualifications:

Must possess a WVTRET Certification (any Level 1-5) or be able to obtain a WVTRET certification within 6 months of hirePrevious construction inspection experienceCertification in any WVDOH Material Testing programs is considered a plus, but not requiredFamiliarity with the use of WVDOH SiteManager and ProjectWise applicationsMust be able to work independently and/or with a GPI/WVDOH Project TeamShould also be available to work the contractor’s hours of operation, up to and including day or night shift and weekends, as necessary for Project completion
