Construction Lending Specialist I

The hiring range for this opportunity is $31.00 to $40.00 hourly along with incentive opportunities, creating a competitive total compensation package based on our pay scale, and may be modified by location and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Lending Specialist I is in charge of managing and monitoring all construction-based loans in the bank.   These include commercial and residential construction loans and all land-based loans.  This position will work closely with Relationship Managers, Commercial Loan Servicing Officers, Underwriters, and other related bank staff to ensure accuracy and validity on all construction related loans.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with Relationship Managers, Commercial Loan Servicing Officers and Underwriters in obtaining information needed to understand the progress of a project.

• Review (and perform) cost reviews and budgets to verify the cost estimates and to support the overall accuracy of the request

• Monitor all construction draws and schedule inspections for each draws.

• Confirm that all invoices are collected for each draw and follow up for lien releases for each Contractor, Sub-Contractor and Vendor.

• Be able to report at any given time the condition of a construction project and whether the project is within its budget.

• Disburse supported draws into the borrower’s checking account or make cashier’s checks out to respective Contractor, Sub-Contractor or Vendor.

• Conduct site inspections for draws on some loans and for periodic reporting purposes.

• Be available for additional reports needed by Credit Administration and other related departments.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains a current understanding of Bank policies and procedures in compliance with all federal and state laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (SARs, CIP, OFAC), Information Security (GLBA), Identity Theft Red Flags, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, and any other applicable regulations that may be specific to your job duties.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

• High school graduate minimum, college degree preferred. 

• Minimum of five years construction related experience.

• Good writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills.

• Good organization skills.

• Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects.

• Ability to effectively use personal computers and Window driven programs, including Excel and Word.
