Position Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day project management activities throughout all phases of Sonic’s Plant Construction projects, while promoting Sonic's core values of outstanding customer service, quality, security, and integrity. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Construction Manager is a full-time (40 hours per week), exempt position.

Travel:
Travel is expected for this position. A valid California Driver’s License for three years and Clean DMV is required.

A company gas card and vehicle will be supplied as needed. Gas cards are used on individually assigned company vehicles only.

Able to fulfill all duties/responsibilities of Construction Manager. Reports directly to Project Manager Advanced skills in Word / Excel / Adobe PDF / Outlook Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of a construction project lifecycle as it pertains to an FTTH Deployment (pre-engineering, engineering, construction, and post-construction activities) Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of aerial and underground construction, and process of transitioning between the two methods, importance of continuity in network construction. Lead and manage the entire construction portion of utility and network infrastructure projects. Conduct weekly contractor calls, confidently driving contractors and Sonic Construction Coordinators towards project goals, enforcing hard deadlines, and managing relationships. Work closely with Construction Coordinators to maintain a constant and informed awareness of ongoing construction activities. Serves as a lead for a team of Project Coordinators to drive & maintain projects from a project management perspective. May be asked to Develop and manage project schedules using tools like MS Project and ensure all project data is accurately updated and managed. Manage the bidding process, including gathering bids from contractors and presenting bids to the Project Manager for approval. Identify risks and obstacles in advance and implement strategies to mitigate potential impacts. May assist in looking for new resources in engineering and construction. Manage any offset projects caused by FTTH construction. Provides feedback at Job Performance Reviews

Experience Requirements:

Knowledge of construction practices. Proven Contractor Management skills. Proactive and deadline driven. Ability to interact effectively with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization. Excellent problem solving and analysis abilities. Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant rules and regulations, and quality standards. Aptitude with computers and mobile devices. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge of aerial and/or HDD construction.

The Plant Construction crew is exposed to varying climates and elements, determined by Mother Nature.

The Construction Manager must be able to drive a Sonic Company vehicle.
