Position Summary:

 

The Construction Manager is responsible for day-to-day oversight of contractors, vendors, and other groups involved in the field implementation efforts to ensure that all phases of the activities meet cost, schedule, environment, regulatory, safety, quality, and operational requirements. This is a rotational field position (2x2). Travel is required. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervise and provide day-to-day oversight of contractors, vendors, and other groups involved in the field implementation efforts to ensure that all phases of the activities meet cost, schedule, environment, regulatory, safety, quality, and operational requirements.Act as the field representative during execution of multiple projects / programs from implementation planning to final field completion.Assist with engineering design efforts to include arranging for engineering site visits, identifying and communicating specific / unique design requirements, and providing constructability design review and comment.Implement contracting and material / equipment procurement strategies to optimize cost, schedule, and technical considerations.Assist with overall planning and scheduling, and assume direct responsibility for the implementation planning / scheduling of field work required for assigned projects.Determine and institute the degree of detail necessary to effectively complete each phase of field implementation.Ensure the timely development of work procedures and other documentation required for successful execution of activities. This responsibility includes working with the client group(s) in development of safe system / equipment isolation procedures, assisting other support groups with development and / or review of inspection and testing procedures / checklists, and direct responsibility for development of safe project procedures (SPPs).Coordinate on-site activities for other internal and external support groups as required ensuring that project field requirements are met, including testing and turnover to client upon completion.Maintain active and continuous on-site interface with the client(s) and ensure the final project product is delivered in accordance with agreed criteria and objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):

 

Mandatory Requirements

High School diploma or GEDThree (3) years’ experience as a construction supervisor/manager or field engineer for maintenance and capital projects.Advanced knowledge in civil, mechanical, electrical, tanks, and process and / or automation projects.Advanced experience in engineering, project and construction management concepts, practices and procedures, and field construction methods.Advanced written and verbal communications skills.Cost and scheduling methodologies and techniques; this includes initial cost and schedule development, progress tracking and reporting.Concepts of work group management to include team formation, assignment of responsibilities, communications, and assessment.Ability to read and understand engineering design drawings leading to the successful construction of final engineering design.Analysis & Problem Solving.Financial Management.Broad safety leadership skills as it relates to projects.Must be able to multi-task, working on several projects at multiple locations.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and interact successfully with engineering and construction contractors, and with facility operations groups.Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform successfully in a team environment.Experience in field engineering and construction assignments including estimating, scheduling, planning and oversight of implementation activities.Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain one.Current Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.Successfully pass a pre-employment background check, medical and drug screening.

 

Preferred Requirements

Demonstrated ability to resolve technical / regulatory issues.Pipeline (TAPS) and / or Petrochemical project experience.Knowledge of construction in arctic and sub-arctic conditions.Shutdown / Turnaround project experience.
