What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: As a Construction Manager, you’ll oversee and coordinate multiple high-profile projects, ensuring they’re completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role offers a dynamic, hands-on opportunity to collaborate with talented teams of contractors, engineers, architects, and clients to shape the future of our facilities. You’ll play a crucial role in the entire lifecycle of each project, from initial planning through successful completion, all while fostering safety, innovation, and excellence on every site. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Selects, contracts, and oversees specialized contractors (e.g., painting, plumbing).

Supervises contractors and subcontractors to ensure all work aligns with quality standards and project specifications.

Actively participates in all aspects of construction, including project meetings and planning discussions.

Proactively brings together the project team to address issues and facilitate seamless communication.

Drives achievement of key project milestones, proactively resolving delays and project impediments.

Leads initial project planning, working with clients, architects, and engineers to outline job scope, resources, and materials.

Schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and allocates time to meet each deadline.

Prepares and submits budget estimates, providing regular updates to clients on budget status.

Ensures projects remain on budget; makes adjustments as needed when issues arise.

Plans and oversees construction activities, ensuring safety standards and codes are followed.

Manages contract negotiations, revisions, and compliance.

Collaborates with clients, contractors, and design professionals to resolve work procedure or construction issues.

Leads responses to project delays, weather challenges, and emergencies on-site.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Background

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is highly preferred. Relevant experience in construction management may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Licensing: General Contractors License is highly preferred.  

Experience: This position requires a minimum 5 years of experience in construction management, including cost management, contracts, construction plans, and project specifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word).

Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous work standards.

Experience with capital projects in the chemicals or petrochemicals industry.

Familiarity with ERP and construction management software (e.g., SAP, Chempax, Concur).

Proven leadership on complex construction projects or in managing large teams.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to navigate job sites in various weather conditions (including walking, climbing, reaching, and bending).

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Willingness to travel and be on-call for project needs.
