Because of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Construction Manager II in the Virginia Beach, VA area.
The Construction Manager assists in the construction of public and private Infrastructure projects. The Construction Manager works with other Construction Managers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, Practice Leader, and Market directors for civil engineering projects for the Aviation, Water, and Transportation Markets.
Responsibilities Increasing responsibilities to perform construction management dutiesGood ability at analyzing and programs independentlyEvaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteriaApplies an increased amount of professional judgment and discretionMust consistently apply Woolpert proceduresGood ability at performing quality control reviews and assists with quality assurance procedures within areas of expertiseManage the inspections of construction projects and materials for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved construction plans/specificationsGood knowledge at ensuring inspections are completed according to contract protocols.Strong knowledge at reviewing and interpreting construction documents, site drawings, as-built drawings, and specificationsCapable of resolving minor issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.Communicate with contractors if test failures occur.Manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.Produce daily and weekly reports Qualifications High School Diploma or GEDConstruction Management Degree and / or 5 - 10+ years of construction experienceProficient in MS Office, Word, Excel.Ability to deal effectively with people at all levelsGood knowledge of construction management, inspections, methods and materialsGood knowledge of contract administration and pay estimatesGood knowledge of soil analysis, materials, compaction, and density testsThorough knowledge of engineering practices including experience working on dredging projectsFamiliarity with construction observation reporting and procedures.Good daily report writing and accurate quantity tracking ability.Good communication skills with clients and staff.Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.10 Hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain.Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites as well as comply with applicable safety codes and requirements.Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.DOT Certifications or the ability to obtain in a timely mannerMaterial Testing Certifications or the ability to obtain in a timely manner
