We are seeking a Construction Manager within our Project Delivery team based out of our Houston, TX office. This position will be assigned to the field project site after all early phase engineering deliverables have been progressed in the Houston engineering office. The initial assignment will be a Louisiana Mega Project located near Sorrento, LA. Typical assignments are 1-3 years at a single location; however, applicants should anticipate occasional, short-term assignments, between major projects. Applicants must be flexible regarding future project locations.

Required Skills / Abilities:
The candidate must possess expert-level construction/EPCM management skills and knowledge along with exceptional communication and influencing skills. The role requires significant interaction with internal groups such as project management, engineering, procurement, EPCs firms and construction contractors ensuring effective coordination across all involved supporting project delivery commitments. The incumbent also interfaces extensively with the customer on engineering and technical matters. Projects are executed utilizing global capabilities, necessitating a strong cross-cultural competency and periodic need for potential international travel by candidate to coordinate with global resources.
Adopts and promotes the commitment to provide a safe workplace that strives for an incident and injury free environment where everyone goes home safe every day. Ensures construction safety program including Site-Specific Safety Planning is proactively communicated and consistently enforced on all projects.
Onboards, trains, and manages required staff resources to support the project to accomplish construction strategy as it relates to safety, cost, and schedule. Mentors Construction Coordinators and Superintendents
Provides guidance to the project construction team to develop budgets and project plans during the proposal, design, and/or pre-construction phase of the project.
Supports project strategy and ensures compliance with the construction management program, including scalable construction strategies from project initiation to handover. Promotes use of AWP, CWP to ensure proper site planning.
Establishes and maintains relationships and acts as the primary contact and counsel to project management.
Identifies deficiencies in skills among assigned team members and works to improve individual’s capabilities through coaching, development, and training.
Knowledge of construction management best practices and a willingness to adapt and lean out existing practices. Ensures training and continuous improvement processes are implemented for the team.
Leads and develops processes to ensure full, end-to-end coordination between all involved parties from planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
Accountable for management of the construction team budget and financial reporting
Initial project role will have Construction Manager reporting to overall Construction Director at site as part of a construction team of divided area responsibilities. Future assignments may be team or individual approach execution strategies so candidate should be capable of leading within a team but also independently leading a site team as well.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Develop and lead a high-performing construction team which includes external partners, vendors, equipment vendors and possibly, customer representatives.
Ensures the projects is well planned with rigorous construction front end planning, implement value engineering, constructability processes, and best practices. Manages project objectives and expectations throughout the project regarding scope, budget, invoicing, schedules, and time frame.
Oversight and provides direction to construction management work processes and activities including ensuring site safety program, cost, schedule, and quality are aligned to support project KPIs and objectives.
Participates in project reviews and for unique execution strategies and decision-making process to address these situations. Lead the internal and/or external problem-solving necessary to arrive at appropriate decisions.
Point of contact for the execution team supporting project development through project on stream on spec activities at site.
Maintains a safe work environment and support corporate and project execution construction safety program goals within the office, with suppliers, and on construction sites.
Expected to be resident at the project site during construction; residency is required at some point during civil construction. The candidate must be flexible to location in future assignments, but the project site for immediate need is in Sorrento Louisiana area.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
Demonstrated experience managing projects and project scopes in excess of $1B+ is required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
20+ years of Construction Leadership experience with large projects will be considered in lieu of a degree
Global experience is preferred but not required
PMP or CCM certification is preferred but not required
Valid Drivers' License and a good driving record is required
