Job Title: Scheduler
Job Description
This role involves developing schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities. The incumbent will revise and review project schedules with the project team and monitor and track progress against the defined schedule.
Responsibilities
+ Develop a thorough understanding of work breakdown structures for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities.
+ Adhere to company and scheduling policies, practices, procedures, and activities as outlined in the 'Scheduling Playbook'.
+ Build relationships with project stakeholders to communicate the overall project plan and support project performance, promoting the value of scheduling.
+ Collaborate with project teams, including Engineers and Superintendents, to confirm Contract Item Lists, develop Required On Job dates, and review Procurement Schedules to track and assess subcontractor commitments.
+ Develop project schedules based on Critical Path Method logic-generated baseline schedules using scheduling software.
+ Review and recommend decisions related to the performance of work regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, and trade staffing levels.
+ Study schedule deliverables prior to publication or distribution and ask challenging questions to enhance schedule accuracy.
+ Prepare detailed schedules in collaboration with project departments like Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction.
+ Engage with the Virtual Design & Construction team to align and coordinate schedules and models.
+ Define project schedule metrics and monitor and track critical path activities to achieve the predicted forecasted end-date.
+ Contribute information required to update the project schedule dashboard.
+ Create target comparison models and look-ahead schedules to provide progress updates, present findings, explain risks, and create recovery strategies.
+ Challenge the project team based on previous, current, and future schedule data for As Built vs. Planned progress.
+ Review Pull Plans and revise schedules accordingly, incorporating the Last Planner System.
+ Collaborate with the project team to identify events and change order management, and develop project schedule time impact analysis.
+ Conduct project site progress walks to capture scheduling progress data.
+ Generate scheduling reports and summaries based on client requests or needs, and provide monthly scheduling progress for Operations Review Meetings or other project review sessions.
+ Provide support and guidance to project end-users to develop proficiency in using scheduling software.
+ Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing teams to develop and prepare proposal scheduling activities and related materials.
+ Develop and update cost and/or resource loaded schedules as requested.
+ Apply continuous improvement methodology to daily tasks and activities to improve scheduling operations.
+ Perform other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in scheduling software applications such as Oracle Primavera P6.
+ Knowledge of scheduling comparison tools such as Acumen Fuse and Change Inspector.
+ Understanding of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
+ Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to develop project schedules.
+ Knowledge of estimating to support project schedule development.
+ Familiarity with earned value concepts and using construction resources to validate productivity and durations.
+ Ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
+ Process and analytical skills for decision-making.
+ Highly organized with attention to detail and a quick understanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Professional interpersonal skills to develop relationships with project team members and stakeholders.
+ Professional written and verbal communication skills, able to present information clearly to non-technical audiences.
+ Proficient computer and data entry skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, and collaborative tools.
+ Limited travel required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field.
+ Four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
+ Experience with large construction projects (>$50m).
+ Previous experience in construction positions such as Field Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, or related roles.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
