The Construction Project Manager - Commercial / Light Industrial is the key liaison with management and must influence and collaborate effectively to fulfill project initiatives. The Construction Project Manager must be able to address any concerns in a timely manner and builds positive relationships with impacted parties.
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for supporting growth initiatives related to the construction and expansion of new and existing facilities. The Project Manager will guide the successful completion of projects including land expansion and development, building additions, remodeling, new construction, and special facility related projects as needed.
The position will manage vendors and contractors and is the key liaison with our facilities, collaborators, and business partners. Effective communication and collaboration are a must to build positive relationships.
Location: This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.
Responsibilities:Manage construction and facility projects by overseeing all project aspects including design review, project bidding and contractor selection, schedule development, site visits, invoice and change order review and project closeoutManage general contractors to adhere to project timelines while communicating all phases of construction to manager and partnersManage vendors, contractors and third party contractors associated to project managementManage multiple construction/design related tasks/projects to successful completion in various marketsManage construction documents, permit approvals and management of the construction processReview and approve contract pay requestsWork directly with Department Groups, as well as Local Management, District Management, Operations, Information Technology and Real Estate to ensure all business interests are reflected in the construction of projectsPartner with business areas to implement building design and construction solutions to support critical initiativesFacilitate meetings to establish and communicate timelines, set clear expectations, and to resolve open issuesProvide evaluations and cost estimates to assist corporate business sponsors in providing analysis for Capital budgetParticipate in weekly status meetings to communicate project updates including overall status, schedule, potential obstacles, and design/new requirement reviewsProvide continual input to optimize design, processes, and customer servicePreferred Qualifications:Project Management/Construction/Engineering/Architecture degree preferredMinimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management (Industrial buildings) preferredMinimum 5 years' Project Management experience while maintaining daily business operations preferredMust be proficient in Excel, Outlook, WordDemonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsVery organized, attention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks on time critical schedules a mustMust have agility and flexibility to respond quickly to change in business needsHighly motivatedUp to 25% travel to job sites and HQ in Newport News is requiredPhysically able to visit all areas of location premises, including roofsPhysically able to frequently bend, stoop and standAble to work outside in various temperatures and inclement weatherAt Ferguson, we care for each other. Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
