Job Description
We are seeking two Construction Safety Officers to join our dynamic team in Vancouver. As a Construction Safety Specialist, you will independently manage and prioritize various safety aspects on construction sites to ensure compliance and safety for all personnel.
ResponsibilitiesConduct site-specific orientations for new hires and visitors, utilizing HammerTech for online completion.Perform comprehensive inspections of the site based on client-provided criteria, which vary from site to site.Manage subcontractors to ensure they have the correct documentation, awareness, training, and records to comply with regulatory requirements.Handle first aid and emergency responses, including critical incident investigations and providing necessary first aid and fire response.Essential Skills5+ years experience in a Health and Safety or Construction Safety Officer role.Experience with developers or general contractors, with a minimum tenure of 3 years.OFA Level 3 certification.Proficiency in basic Excel, NCSO, Gold Seal, crane safety, Core Certified Auditor, HammerTech, Procore, and SALUS.Availability for overlapping shifts starting at 6:30 am and 11 am, with the latest finish at 7 pm.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in high pedestrian traffic areas.Experience in tenant improvement or high-rise construction.Post-secondary education or certifications, such as NCSO and Gold Seal, are an asset.Knowledge in crane safety and other technical areas.Tickets from the Construction Safety Association, such as Core Certified Auditor.Work Environment
You will be assigned to one project at a time, with an average duration of 24 months per project. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with start times ranging from 6 am to 11 am for 8-hour shifts. Depending on the project, you may work standalone shifts of 10-12 hours and may occasionally require working on Saturdays. Shifts could extend to 7 pm, overlapping with other Construction Safety Officers. Projects are located across the Lower Mainland, often near SkyTrain stations. A car may be required, and parking is paid in downtown areas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
