Construction Shop Foreman


    

Job Summary: 

The Construction Shop Foreman oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the shop, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget.  This role involves supervising a team of skilled mechanics, assist with managing inventory and equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and construction standards.  

Work Location:           Mendota Heights, MN 

Work Schedule:         Year-Round (2nd Shift)

Job Duties & Requirements:

Supervision and Leadership:

Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of construction workers, technicians, and apprentices. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and project requirements. Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance. Work with shop manager on shop budget.

Project Management:

Coordinate and schedule work to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Monitor progress and address any issues or delays promptly. Ensure that all work is performed according to project specifications and quality standards.

Safety and Compliance:

Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations and best practices. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Equipment and Inventory Management:

Oversee the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment. Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure that materials are used efficiently. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory. Price check and ordering all parts for equipment. Work with parts vendors and make sure all warranty parts are reimbursed, and all cores and returns are done.

Quality Control:

Inspect work performed by the team to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications. Address any quality issues or defects and implement corrective actions as needed.

Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact between the shop and other departments around the company. Communicate effectively with managers, employees, and other team members to ensure smooth operations. Provide regular updates on project status, issues, and progress. Work with equipment dispatcher and check moves.

Administrative Tasks:

Prepare and maintain reports on project progress, team performance, and inventory. Complete and submit necessary documentation and paperwork as required. Other duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required (associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred). Vocational school – diesel mechanic hydraulics 5 plus years' experience (mechanic) Supervisory experience highly preferred Field mechanic experience Computer skills Management classes Training on making a budget and following it. Safety Training. Reliable and strong problem-solving skills
