Construction Site Manager (Energy Sector) [F/M/X]

Job description

Profile:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Site Manager to oversee the construction of a large-scale combined cycle power plant in Liège. This role requires significant leadership, technical expertise, and coordination with multiple stakeholders to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

General:

Actively support and enforce the Project Health and Safety policies to achieve Zero Harm on-site. Plan construction activities and ensure constructability reviews of the design at all stages. Exercise strict quality control on all construction activities, following inspection plans. Oversee construction of facilities, ensuring adherence to schedule, quality standards, and project specifications. Manage operational interfaces between work packages, establishing segregated work areas and clarifying physical interfaces. Identify, manage, and report on major risks associated with project construction. Ensure adequate staffing of the construction team, aligned with project objectives and needs. Serve as the key interface with all construction stakeholders and provide appropriate progress reporting to the Project Director and CTO.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

Together with the HSE manager, CTO, and Construction Team, ensure proper HSE policies and practices are implemented on-site.

Quality Management:

Supervise contractor work on-site and follow up on all inspections and tests. Coordinate the management of all interfaces between stakeholders. Organize the handover process from construction to commissioning teams.

Team Building:

Recruit, develop, and manage the site construction team. Ensure the construction project is adequately resourced, escalating any issues to the CTO and Project Management team early on.

Construction Site Management:

Serve as the Project’s site representative, ensuring compliance with Project and Shareholder standards for all work packages. Participate in site coordination, quality, and HSE management to meet Project requirements.

Budget and Schedule:

Manage the construction site budget, ensuring delivery according to the Project Management Plan, cost schedule, and stakeholder management plans. Oversee the construction component of the project, ensuring alignment with the work breakdown structure and overall project goals.

Contractor Relations:

Manage interfaces with other key stakeholders, including sponsors, grid operators, and the local community. Ensure work packages are managed according to project specifications and local requirements.

Commissioning and Handover:

Coordinate with the commissioning team to ensure smooth handover to the Operations & Maintenance management. Profile Requirements: Strong leadership and assertiveness to manage a large-scale, multi-year construction site. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to unexpected events. Extensive experience as a Construction Manager for large-scale thermal projects (€50+ million budget, 10+ years of experience). Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C). Expertise with large rotating equipment (gas and steam turbines), complex piping systems, and knowledge of high-voltage equipment is a plus. Experience with international EPC contractors and managing complex contractual setups.

Languages:

Fluency in French and English is mandatory. What can you expect?
