Consultant, Data Governance (Two Positions)

General Position Description:
• This position supports the Data Governance function to build a quality framework of critical data to improve, monitor and thereby leverage common tools and governance across a variety of data sources.
 
Minimum Requirements:
• A Graduate/Post Graduate from a Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field with more than 5 Years of Data Quality/Governance experience 
• Must be flexible to work in shifts and/or on a rotational basis

Desired Competencies:
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders. Has done similar work in enterprise data governance groups implementing change and DG best practices. 
• Worked and understands and can measure various dimensions of Data Quality (using tools and without)
• Self-driven and a quick learner of different tools, technologies, concepts and frameworks and is comfortable in driving it independently with little to no direction
• Worked and understands Meta Data concepts as well as Lineage concepts
• Worked and understands Business Glossaries and related topics
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders. Has done similar work in enterprise data governance groups implementing change and 
DG best practices. 
• Has experience with Master Data, Data Domains. Can clearly articulate what is master data and what is the mastering process. Ideally should have worked on data governance of customer and product data and should be able to talk about challenges on data definitions, taxonomy, and data quality
• Experience implementing data governance standards in particular metadata and data quality. Can clearly articulate how they have made data quality controls effective.
• Has worked with complex databases and applications – legacy and newer technologies
• Has worked on big strategic data governance projects
• Comes with a financial domain understanding
• Can rationalize multiple meanings for the same data definitions
• Can solicit  input from business teams and Data Stewards to standardize business glossary terms
• Can manage work-streams and defined pieces of work
• Utilize tools (Collibra)  to analyze, query and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures. Collibra work experience is a must
• Proficient in SQL and Regex.  Experience with Programming basics in Java, COBOL, BIG Data (Hadoop) will be an advantage.
• Proficient in reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau
• Any experience on the IBM Info Sphere Information Analyzer tool will be a plus 
• Understanding of Data Models, Schemas, DDLs
• Experience in  Data Warehouse projects is a plus
• Exposure to File Transmissions
• Trouble Shooting on the Data Gaps      
• Excel: importing and manipulating data 
• Usage of Excel advance features

Key Responsibilities:
• Work on Data Quality projects and deliver results while being strategic

• Implementing data governance standards in particular metadata and data quality. Can clearly articulate how they have made data quality controls effective.
• Work with complex databases and applications – legacy and newer technologies
• Reviews, analyzes, and ensures the quality of data in database systems and provides support from a quality perspective.  Must be able to understand business rules, work with varying data formats, and develop metrics and audit procedures to monitor data quality.
• Formulate business rules for data
• Write and present - both for a business and technical audience
• Translate business concepts and concerns into logical statements and code
• Understand, query and manipulate varying data and file formats.  Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems.  Measure and audit large volumes of varying data for quality issues.  Works with multiple groups, including overseas groups, to resolve issues.
• Documents data process flows and transformation rules
• Follow defined audit procedures, and produce required metrics according to defined procedures.
• Correct data quality errors, either with system tools or working with the DQ or LOB teams.
• May update/maintain database with reviewed and corrected data.
• Review data and record layouts prior to submitting to development or DQ  teams and does final check when data is loaded. May approve release of data into production.
• Prepare reports and track trends.
• Interpret, evaluate and resolve or escalate phone/e-mail inquiries pertaining to user requests.
• Provide training to other Data Quality Analysts.
