Location: This position is open to a hybrid or remote work location. If a candidate is within 35-miles of the onsite work location in Columbus, Ohio, they will be required to hold a hybrid work schedule.

Role Description:

This Learning and Performance role is responsible for designing and executing a program to help our Third Party Administrators transition from familiarity to fluency with our new technology. This role involves direct client contact and collaboration with Case Managers and Relationship Managers to deliver the program. The work includes developing a broad curriculum as well as targeted training.

Skills and Qualifications

Strong knowledge of retirement plans, the TPA role, and the current Emerging Markets technology suite.Proven track record in TPA relationship management.Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts.Knowledge and experience in adult learning theoryComfortable interacting with business leaders and customers.Ability to learn on the fly.FINRA Series 6 required and must be obtained in 120 days from hire date.

As a Consultant, you'll provide advanced level consultation and/or delivery of Learning & Performance training for associate and management groups across the company. You'll work on and lead the design and development of whole systems solutions. We'll count on you to identify ideal and actual performance required to meet business needs and guide management in taking action that moves performance toward ideal.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts technical, professional and management training and programs including, developmental or interactive skills training to entry through advanced-level associates. Identifies, sources and schedules delivery resources for identified Learning & Performance needs.

Evaluates the effectiveness of performance solutions against established metrics and return on investment expectations in meeting organization's plans, goals and strategies. Provides assistance or feedback in the design of evaluation tools.

Designs and develops learning solutions to meet identified performance gaps for all levels of associates and management. May identify and source or partner with technical or third party resources to ensure appropriate design and development solution.

Partners and consults with business leaders to analyze performance gaps. Performs need analysis to determine performance gap solutions consistent with business needs, learning department goals and corporate strategies.

Markets department resources and communicates programs to promote services, products and curriculum. Partners and influences business units value perception and utilization of services.

Identifies, schedules and prepares subject matter authorities or other identified resources to develop, evaluate and deliver learning solutions within budget. Creates forecast and estimates of project costs.

Leads Learning & Performance related projects which may include skill based assignment, customer service training initiatives and team effectiveness.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager or Director, Learning & Performance.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree preferred with emphasis in business, education, psychology or related subject area desired Advanced studies in instructional technology, management, organization development or the behavioral science. 

License/Certification/Designation: Professional certification, such as the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), strongly preferred. In some business units, there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications, e.g., FINRA series in Nationwide Financial or progress toward technical designation, such as CPCU or equivalent designation.

Associates must acquire all required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, eight or more years proven experience in learning and development, organizational development/effectiveness, and in internal and external consulting. Strong instructional design, skill assessment, measurement methodology, needs assessment, change management and facilitation experience required. Technical insurance industry experience desired in addition to professional learning and development experience. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven knowledge of consulting practices, organization interventions, facilitation, needs analysis, team building, and the design and delivery of leadership, professional and technical courses. Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to and explain complex technical concepts. Comfortable around business leaders. Ability to learn on the fly, negotiate and problem solve to resolution. Strategic agility and able to deal with ambiguity and influence without authority. Strong interpersonal savvy and business acuity required.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: May require physical ability to stand while teaching and to move furniture, equipment and supplies around classroom. Potential for travel and non-standard work hours.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.

The national salary range for Consultant, Learning & Performance : $77,000.00-$159,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Learning & Performance : $86,000.00 - $128,000.00
