Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Client Solutions advisory practice is currently seeking a Consultant to join our industry leading capital planning and operational readiness team of management consultants.

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work within a dynamic environment and

collaborate closely with our unique integrated team of project delivery and healthcare operations specialists, and to interact with a diversity of individuals in architecture, engineering, interior design, energy, and sustainability across Stantec’s Canadian and USA offices.

We are seeking to expand our team who are working on numerous major P3 and traditional delivery capital and operational readiness projects primarily in the healthcare, education, and commercial real estate sectors. This is a full-time position, located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with some travel required. The candidate will work in collaboration with our team in an active, client-facing capacity drawing on their capital planning and redevelopment knowledge and experience to become a trusted advisor to our clients.

You will work closely with senior members of our team and engage with clients on a wide variety of major, high-profile projects from the planning stage through execution to occupancy.

Your Key Responsibilities

Develop planning documents, project schedules, and reports, and presentations for clients using our proven planning processes and tools. Assist with the preparation and conducting of facilitated planning sessions with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and the path forward. Assess project performance by conducting review sessions with clients, project consultants, advisors, and contractors against project plans and prepare performance reports to clients. Assist with the identification of key issues and risks to the project outcome. Revise and update project planning documents in all stages of the project Prepare written reports and participate in verbal presentations to clients. Support and assist with development of proposal responses and promotional materials. Contribute to Client Solutions’ business goals through participation in group planning and brainstorming sessions. Contribute to documented best practices.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Good understanding of the capital planning process for major redevelopment projects. Good understanding and application of project management processes and principles. Familiarity with Ontario’s Ministry of Health Capital Planning Process, P3 project procurement and delivery, and municipal planning approval processes in Ontario. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office suite and the use of PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio for management reporting. Strong familiarity with project scheduling software (MS Project and/or Primavera). Ability to combine technical expertise with business acumen. Effective and expressive communicator, both verbally and written, who is clear and concise. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Innovative, creative, critical thinker. Self-starter, team player and effective collaborator with others. Efficient time manager adept at managing multiple projects with competing deadlines. Comfortable working in both a group environment and individually, virtually, and in-person. Comfortable being hands-on working with software tools in flat, project team structures.

Education and Experience

An undergraduate degree (Architecture, Engineering, or a related field) from an accredited university or college. Minimum 5 years’ experience with project capital planning. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or willingness to obtain.

The successful candidate must be:

Able to travel between Stantec offices and client sites within and outside of the GTA. Able to occasionally work extended hours based on project demands and deliverable deadlines. Willing to travel within Ontario and occasionally to other parts of Canada or the USA to support consulting activities. In possession of a valid driver’s license in Ontario.
