As a consultant or Senior Consultant in the Planning Applications Team
You bring a spirit of scientific inquiry, evidence-based planning values, and an energetic capability for winning new work that will help grow RSG-s transportation planning support business line. You will be able to tap RSG-s superb analytic capabilities to help you succeed in growing RSG-s planning business line.
In delivering value to clients, you will win and lead a variety of transportation planning & policy efforts. You will bring to RSG a proven track record in leading transportation long-range plan updates, corridor studies, freight plans, and planning and environmental linkages (PEL) studies. You will leverage RSG-s renowned travel forecasting, market research, and analytical skills to help inform critical planning and policy decisions at the local, regional, state, and national levels. You are ready to do this because you are an experienced transportation planner with topical specialties in one or more planning factors (e.g., state DOT plans and studies, performance management, modal plans, freight, resiliency, climate issues, etc.). You are entrepreneurial, energetic, and truly enjoy providing helpful answers to clients- planning questions.
In delivering value to the firm, you will come to RSG with a demonstrated track record of developing and growing business in the transportation planning sector in the various activities listed above. You will collaborate with peers to deliver long-range plans informed by high quality forecasting, analytics, and data. You will develop and nurture enduring, trusted relationships with federal, state, regional, and local clients and use those relationships to identify and win opportunities for business growth. As you and your colleagues grow the business, you will recruit and develop a capable planning team at RSG. Responsibilities
+ Win planning work for RSG.
+ Lead planning projects by developing and implementing planning approaches and processes, devising and implementing successful communications and engagement processes, doing policy research and development, and writing plan documents.
+ Commission from the rest of RSG market research, analytic, and forecasting work that supports the planning projects that you win and lead yourself.
+ Contribute to RSG-s financial growth and organizational development by:
+ Recruiting and mentoring new junior staff.
+ Helping RSG develop successful business development and growth strategies.
+ Enhance RSG-s cohesion and staff wellbeing by leading team meetings, company seminars, and other events that promote connectedness.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor-s degree in a field appropriate to RSG-s work with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience or a master-s degree in a field appropriate to RSG-s work with 5+ years relevant experience.
+ AICP, PMP, or PE certification preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Proven ability to win new business.
+ A track record of successfully delivering major stand-alone deliverables (plans) in the transportation long-range planning domain.
+ A values-based commitment to a data-driven approach to strategic planning and policymaking.
+ An excellent manner in developing and nurturing client relationships
+ Demonstrated technical and business writing and editing skills.
+ Proven ability to work well independently and as part of project teams supporting various nationwide projects.
+ Experience managing and developing people.
+ Proven success dealing with diverse stakeholders and building/sustaining enduring client relationships.
Desired Qualifications
+ Experience managing planning and analysis that provides specific answers, e.g., via DTA-level forecasts of road and intersection performance
+ Demonstrated record of winning and successfully completing work for state DOTs, e.g., statewide plans, modal plans, and corridor/project studies
+ Experience bringing process and technical innovations to the planning world, e.g., strategic modeling, enhanced visualization, better equity approaches, and the like.
