Job Description: Risk Analytics and Compliance Consultant
Department: HFS Risk Analytics and Compliance
Summary: As a member of the HFS Risk Analytics and Compliance team, the individual will support daily production and delivery of various portfolio risk and compliance analytics to our clients, as well as assist with development initiatives, process automation, and strategic projects across the HFS Middle Office. The position requires strong technical and problem solving skills, competence in Python programming, and the ability to work independently. A background in middle office operations or concepts such as valuations, market risk, regulatory reporting, or compliance is a plus.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Post-Trade Compliance & Risk Monitoring:Support daily production and monitoring of post-trade compliance and risk guidelines.Ensure portfolio activity adheres to established exposure, liquidity, and regulatory limits.Conduct analysis on portfolio risk, including scenario analysis, stress testing, and value-at-risk (VaR) assessments.Manage and escalate compliance breaches and risk exceptions with internal teams and clients.Perform quality control on large datasets related to market risk, portfolio analytics, and compliance metrics.Automation & Process Optimization:Utilize Python to enhance automation of compliance monitoring and risk analytics.Develop tools and workflows to streamline reporting and risk assessment processes.Identify and implement process improvements for post-trade compliance monitoring.Product & Project Management Support:Manage implementation of new guideline requests stemming from account events (e.g., fund launches, mandate changes).Work cross-functionally with internal teams (IT, Portfolio Management, Compliance) to coordinate guideline integration.Document and track changes to compliance rules, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to risk policies.Client & Stakeholder Engagement:Work closely with clients to interpret compliance requirements and resolve risk-related inquiries.Collaborate with IT and business teams to design and implement new risk analytics and compliance tools.Provide timely and accurate risk and compliance reporting to internal and external stakeholders.Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
Experience:Minimum 3 years of experience within a Quantitative or Financial Services domain, preferably in risk, compliance, or portfolio analytics.Exposure to middle office operations, regulatory reporting, or risk management is a plus.Technical Skills:Proficiency in Python (required) for data analysis, automation, and compliance checks.Familiarity with SQL, R, MATLAB, VBA, or HTML is a plus.Strong understanding of financial products and portfolio management concepts.Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities:Experience analyzing business risks and operational workflows.Ability to think creatively about compliance and risk challenges.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.Project & Product Management:Experience in product/project management is a value add, particularly in implementing compliance-related technology solutions.Ability to manage guideline requests and fund launch requirements.Interpersonal & Adaptive Skills:Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.Adaptive and flexible style—able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Math or a related field).Job Description: Risk Analytics and Compliance Consultant
