Consultant, Scientist (Mid-Level)

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is a leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, and social consulting services. We are currently seeking an outstanding Consultant, Scientist - Environmental Impact Assessment/Permitting to join our California Capital Project Delivery team.

This role would be based in Irvine, California.

The role requires experience in the energy transition, utility, and renewables sectors with some exposure to project coordination, environmental effects analysis, and permitting, and an interest in applying knowledge and skills to solve complex challenges in throughtout California and the West. Good familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements is needed. This posting has potential for career growth with the successful candidate having opportunities to directly interact with clients and regulators. The successful candidate will be a member of a larger Capital Project Delivery team, and will become a member of an extensive team of global environmental and social experts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical expertise on a variety of permitting, regulatory, environmental impact assessment, and climate change tasks in support of clients’ projects.Work on multiple projects alongside project managers to execute scope/budget/schedule to meet client's expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.Support engagement activities with communities and stakeholders as part of the project design and permitting process;Support delivery activities such as permit application scoping, application information requirements, technical writing, data and regulatory research and review, collection and integration of input from ERM’s subject matter experts, permit and environmental management plans, delegating work to GIS, data compilation and desk-top publishing assignments to support permit applications, and development of recommendations for clients.Support business development activities, initiatives, and programs.Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees worldwide.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Bachelor degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.2+ year (3-5 years preferred) of professional experience.Understanding of environmental effects related to energy and renewable projects.Prior experience in environmental consulting or government is considered an asset.Expertise with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.Environmental assessment and planning experience, including execution of full life-cycle environmental services for capital projects.Prior experience in proposal and business development programs is considered an asset.Ability to follow directions and take initiative when required.Ability to connect and collaborate with team members, driving execution or projects and initiatives.Excellent writing, communication, organization, and time management skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management approaches.Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.

For the Consultant, Scientist (Mid-Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $73,145 – $87,932 (USD).  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
