Consultant; Database Developer - Health Sector Partnership Database Development linked to iHRIS

 

Project Overview and Role:

PROPEL Health supports the Ministry of Health of Botswana’s Health Policy, Research, and Development Department in human resources for health (HRH) and other health systems functions.
Palladium International LLC through its Botswana based subsidiary Make It Possible Botswana, is seeking qualified candidates for the short-term consultancy position of that will support the development of a health sector partnership database operational under an existing health information system platform– Integrated Human Resource Information System (IHRIS). The developer consultant will report to the PROPEL Health Country Director in Botswana, providing updates on activity status and progress, and share results, best practices and lessons learned.

Key Responsibilities  

Outlined below are some of the specific tasks for the iHRIS Full-Stack Developer: 

Collaborate with the PROPEL-Botswana project team and MOH relevant staff to develop functional specifications for a health sector partnership database.   Prototype, design, code, test, and deploy high-quality database enhancements to iHRIS according to the defined requirements.  Extract, transform, and load datasets into iHRIS from various sources such as Excel and other systems.  Work with MySQL and other relational databases to manage and query data effectively.  Develop visualizations and dashboards using Beautify or similar tools to present data in a user-friendly and informative manner. 

Requirements: 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology.  Advanced knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, HTML5, Java, C++, and PHP.  Knowledge of software systems and frameworks including AnglularJS, Git, GitHub, and .NET.  Experience with object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.   Familiarity with Agile development technologies.  Possess at least 5 years of experience in both back-end and front-end development.  Proven track record of working with iHRIS.  Strong working knowledge of Node.js for backend development and Vue.js for frontend development. Experience with FHIR for interoperability. An understanding of Open HIE is required.  Proficiency in working with MySQL and other relational databases. Experience in visualization and dashboarding using tools like JSON Beautify.  Experience using Ubuntu for development, deployment, and maintenance.  Experience working with the Ministry of Health or similar organizations is an added advantage. 

Languages: Fluency in English is required.

- Cost- 20%
