In this role, you will assist in managing and maintaining storage and backup solutions within our data center environment. This role supports the availability, reliability, and performance of storage and backup services critical to our clients' operations.
Responsibilities
• Assist in managing storage systems, including SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage), ensuring availability and performance.
• Assist in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and timely recovery in case of failures.
• Provide L1/L2 support for storage and backup-related incidents and service requests, escalating issues as needed for timely resolution.
• Monitor storage and backup performance metrics, identifying and implementing optimization opportunities to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Maintain documentation of storage and backup configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on storage utilization and backup success rates.
• Implement and adhere to security policies, procedures, and best practices for storage and backup environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure integrated and efficient operations of storage and backup systems.
• Assist in managing changes to storage and backup systems through testing, coordination, and documentation to minimize risks and disruptions.
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience in supporting storage and backup systems within a data center or IT infrastructure environment.
• Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and RAID configurations.
• Basic understanding of backup solutions and methodologies (e.g., tape backup, disk-based backup, cloud backup).
• Experience with storage management tools and monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and task execution.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
• Certifications related to storage and backup technologies (e.g., CompTIA Storage , EMC Proven Professional).
• Experience with enterprise backup software such as Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, or Veeam.
• Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and support.
