Consumer Underwriter II
Job Purpose & Scope Responsible for reviewing a full array of Consumer Loan Applications and decision in compliance with the Bank’s Loan Policies and Procedures. Reviews a wide array of Consumer Loan products and handles the more complex or specialize loans. Essential Job Functions Underwrite most Consumer Loan Products including non-real estate loans, residential portfolio mortgages, construction loans and HELOCs to the Bank’s policies, procedures, and standards. Perform ability-to-repay analysis when applicable. Perform appraisal and other valuation reviews. Effectively communicate with lenders, documentation specialists and management concerning approved and declined consumer loans. Perform in accordance with the Bank’s efficiency standards. Ensure compliance with all laws, and regulations as they apply to consumer lending. Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the information obtained in the underwriting and lending process. Administer and maintain the systems, databases, logs, and files utilized in Consumer Underwriting. Perform special projects and tasks as required by the department. Display a high degree of integrity, trustworthiness, professionalism, flexibility, and adaptability. Follow Bank policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect clients, employees, and bank assets. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Possess knowledge of credit analysis for consumer lending. Experience with Dodd Frank Qualified Mortgage and Ability to Repay analysis. Knowledge of accounting principles and both business and personal financial statements and tax returns. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of consumer compliance bank regulations in addition to the Office of Foreign Asset Control, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act. Knowledge of general banking principles. Strong customer service skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate effective time management in meeting the Bank’s efficiency standards. Ability to maintain focus and concentration in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (business or finance preferred) or commensurate work experience, required. Three (3) years of banking, credit underwriting and or lending experience and a basic knowledge of real estate products, required.
