Content Design is the function that applies principles of content strategy, user-centered design, and storytelling to create meaningful, effective, and user-friendly content experiences across Paylocity's product offerings. As a Content Design Manager, you will lead the content design team, ensuring that product content is clear, accessible, and aligned with user needs and business goals. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including UX, product, and engineering—to define and deliver content strategies that enhance the overall user experience. You are a skilled communicator, an advocate for user-centered content, and have a passion for mentoring others in the content design field. This role will report to the User Experience Director of Platforms. Responsibilities: + Oversee the execution of content design strategy, + The planning of team projects, managing timelines and aligning resources across your teams. + Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to create content that seamlessly integrates with design and functionality. + Ensure all content is aligned with user needs and adheres to Paylocity’s guidelines, effectively addressing complex communication challenges within the product experience. + Mentor and support your team of content designers, helping to establish best practices and content design standards across products. + Provide strategic insight into content decisions and participate in project planning, working directly with senior leadership and other managers. + Use excellent communication and negotiation skills to balance stakeholder needs and advocate for user-focused content solutions. + Manage localization process, ensuring that content is effectively translated and adapted for different languages and regions. + Oversee localization vendors and tools, as well; as establish guidelines to ensure constancy across content. + Champion user-centered content practices and ensure your team is delivering clear, concise, and actionable content to users and direction to the UX team. + Ensure that accessibility standards are met across all content. + Lead UX writing efforts across products, identifying innovative ways to communicate product benefits and complex information. + Advocate for content design strategies within the broader organization, ensuring that content strategy is an integral part of the design process. Required Experience: + Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Journalism, or a related field, or 7-10 years of applied experience in content design or UX writing. + Exceptional communication, writing, and editorial skills, with experience crafting content for digital products. + Ability to tackle complex communication challenges and simplify them for a diverse range of users. + Proven ability to work within and influence cross-functional teams, including product, design, and engineering. + Strong experience in content strategy, information architecture, and interaction design. Soft Skills + Strong communicator and facilitator with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization. + Curious about content and design trends, with a passion for staying current in the field. + Relentless in advocating for the best user experience through effective and thoughtful content. + Able to build and maintain relationships in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment. Preferred Skills + Experience developing content strategy and guidelines for Saas products in an agile environment. + Proven experience in mentoring and coaching team members. + Stay up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and being able to adapt to changing design requirements.
