Job Overview Join Our Team as a Content Developer, Technical Training! Location: Sudbury, ON Business Unit: Underground Hard Rock Mining Reports to: Technical Training Supervisor Department: Aftermarket – Technical Training Are you passionate about developing and optimizing technical training programs for mobile mining equipment? Do you have extensive experience in technical content development and training? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As aContent Developer, Technical Training, you will work as part of a multi-functional aftermarket team to create and enhance maintenance, troubleshooting, and product technical training programs. You will collaborate with product subject matter experts and technical trainers to develop training content for instructor-led, online, e-learning, and simulation delivery. Key Job Responsibilities + Technology Optimization: Research and develop technology optimization to enhance our training offering and customer experience. + Training Program Development: Develop general mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting training programs to support the learning and development of Komatsu service representatives around the world with different skill levels and abilities. + Product-Specific Training: Develop equipment technical product and operator training programs and materials related to underground loaders, trucks, drills, and bolters for service representatives and customer maintenance mechanics of different skill levels and abilities. + Information Gathering: Obtain information needed to prepare training programs and materials by working with subject matter experts in design and application engineering, commercial, and technical support teams. + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to create technical operations, safety, installation, and maintenance documentation from scratch using schematics, drawings, and subject matter expert interviews. + New Product Launches: Develop training in time for new product launches. + Training Content Development: Develop technical training program content, guides, evaluations for instructor-led, e-learning, online delivery, and simulator delivery using training software, e-learning software, PowerPoint, and other tools as required. + Training Evaluation: Develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities and evaluate vendors for external technical training development support. + Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure training is in line with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations. + Quality Standards: Ensure training meets Komatsu quality standards and fulfills knowledge outcome requirements. + Training Documentation: Maintain proper training documentation databases for all training participants. + Training Updates: Evaluate and implement training updates, new technologies, communication systems, and tools to ensure training is innovative and relevant. + Field Support: May be required to travel to customer sites to learn about product systems in real applications and record videos for training content. Qualifications/Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) or mechanical tradesperson. + 5+ years of experience in technical training content development, technical writing, or similar in a related industry. + Experience facilitating training on technical equipment is considered an asset. + Experience with photo and video editing. + Strong understanding of maintenance and troubleshooting processes and best practices for mining or heavy equipment, including diesel or BEV equipment. + Knowledge of instructional design with previous exposure to technical modularized learning experiences across instructor-led and eLearning modalities. + Proficiency in designing and creating training programs and materials. + Ability to read, interpret, and explain mechanical drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics. + Strong understanding of CANbus systems, including their architecture, communication protocols, and troubleshooting techniques. + Proficiency in using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools for creating high-quality visuals/graphics. + The ability to operate mining equipment is an asset. + Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel. + Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Ability to communicate abstract or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. + Ability to independently scope and run multiple, concurrent projects.
