We are looking for an experienced documentation and content leader to join and lead our technical documentation team. In this role, you will coordinate the day-to-day operation of a team of skilled knowledge and content professionals who look after our documentation efforts for our customers in addition to a global, internal audience. An average week might consist of facilitating 1:1s with direct reports, reviewing governance plans and programs, providing feedback and mentoring team members, meeting with colleagues in similar roles in other Cisco business units, and attending project meetings with internal stakeholders from Support, Product Management, or Engineering.
The ideal candidate has a passion for quality documentation, a keen understanding and experience with a few different documentation ecosystems and knowledge management programs, and successfully leveraged AI for content generation, improving accuracy, and enhancing search capabilities.
Your ImpactTeam Management (30%)Lead and develop a globally distributed team of documentation professionals such as knowledge managers, content managers, and technical writers.Hold weekly 1:1s and team meetings. Provide your team with radically candid, growth-oriented feedback on day-to-day work and assigned projects.Bring your experience to help craft relevant role expectations and an inspiring career ladder.Plan for and participate in onboarding new talent to the team.Documentation Ecosystem, Governance, and Alignment (40%)Adapt our documentation ecosystem to take advantage of AI and for content generation, accuracy, and enhancement.Overhaul the tooling and architecture of our documentation for content sharing and reuse, discoverability, and positioning for use in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).Partner with Cisco’s various business units to ensure that our internal and external content is well-aligned and best positioned for success.Define and regularly review governance plans.Audit documentation programs and other engagements to provide feedback and validate desired business outcomes and success metrics.Analysis and Reporting (10%)Report on documentation data and trends to assess the effectiveness of the program and identify areas for improvement.Analyze business metrics to identify documentation needs and opportunities.Participate in team and departmental Objective and Key Result (OKR) and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) cycles.Professional Development (20%)
