Content Management Systems (CMS) Solutions Developer  (IT Sr Associate 3) - Provisional **GENERAL DUTIES** I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. The full specification is available on our web site at http://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/hr/classified-civil-service/ccsjobs/ **CONTRACT TITLE** IT Senior Associate **FLSA** Exempt **CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION** The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY's 26 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications and identifies and develops new technologies that advance the University's core mission. CIS operates and maintains the University's network, the enterprise Data Center, the CUNY Service Desk, manages the processes of safeguarding the University’s IT assets, and maintains the security posture by operating the CUNY Security Operations Center (SOC). Additionally, CIS develops disaster recovery plans for business continuity and supports the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that integrates student administration, financial management,and human resources operations across CUNY’s 26 colleges. Lastly, CIS provides strategic and operational IT leadership to all CUNY campuses. Reporting to the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Architect, the Content Management Systems (CMS) Solutions Developer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of websites and ECM systems, focusing on user experience, functionality, and performance. Leveraging expertise in WordPress, the Developer will customize themes, plugins, and integrations to meet specific business needs, while ensuring scalability and security. Working on FileNet, the incumbent will design and maintain content management processes to streamline document storage, retrieval, and workflow automation. They will configure structures for compliance, optimize search with metadata and indexing, integrate with other applications, and secure access for efficient, compliant content management. This position will collaborate closely with stakeholders to create visually appealing and responsive designs that enhance user engagement using WordPress. With a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, the developer will ensure optimal website performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices, aligning web content strategies with organizational goals. This role also involves continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and upgrading of web platforms to keep pace with evolving digital standards and user expectations. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: + Develops, customizes, and maintains WordPress websites, including themes, plugins, and integrations, with a focus on functionality, ensuring scalability and performance. + Designs responsive and user-friendly website layouts, ensuring a seamless user experience across all devices and platforms. + Integrates IBM ECM solutions with WordPress, enabling efficient content management and retrieval while aligning with organizational goals. + Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, create wireframes, and design prototypes that meet business objectives. + Ensures website security and data protection, including regular updates, backups, and implementation of security best practices. + Optimizes websites for SEO, accessibility, and performance, ensuring compliance with web standards and regulations. + Troubleshoots and resolves website issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks, providing ongoing support and maintenance. + Manages and organizes web content using both WordPress CMS and IBM’s ECM, ensuring efficient document storage and retrieval. + Develops custom PHP scripts, plugins, and widgets to extend WordPress functionality, while adhering to best coding practices. + Performs testing and debugging of websites across multiple browsers and devices to ensure consistent user experience. + Stays current with industry trends, new technologies, and ECM/WordPress developments, applying relevant advancements to improve web platforms. **NOTES** : 1. Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. 2. **An appointment to this Competitive title/position in the Classified Civil Service Title Series will be made with a Provisional status. Employees in provisional status must pass a competitive civil service examination and be appointed from a civil service list to remain in the title/position.** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** 1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent 2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position 3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency 4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions. This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required. **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS** Preferred: + Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP for website development and design, ensuring responsive and optimized web layouts. + Experience with: + WordPress CMS, including theme customization, plugin development, and troubleshooting within a multi-tier web environment. + SEO optimization, including the use of tools like Google Analytics and Search Console to improve website visibility and performance. + Strong understanding of UNIX/Linux and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, with skills in system administration, shell scripting (e.g., bash), and automation. + Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) for designing and creating visual content and prototypes that enhance user experience. + Experience working with IBM ECM systems and integrating enterprise content management tools within WordPress for seamless document handling and storage. + Familiarity with Apache, NGINX, and Tomcat web servers for configuring and tuning web hosting environments. + Knowledge of MySQL, Oracle, and SQL databases, including database management, optimization, and query development to support dynamic web content. + Understanding of REST and SOAP APIs for web services integration, enabling smooth interaction between WordPress and other enterprise systems. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and troubleshoot cross- platform web issues and enhance system performance. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and address the technical and functional needs of students, faculty, and staff, ensuring user satisfaction and system reliability. **COMPENSATION** The current salaries based on level are as follows: Level 1: **$91,298** Level 2: **$99,599** Level 3: **$109,560** **NOTE:** **Following new contract negotiations with the DC 37 union, the new salary rates for the IT Senior Associate title and their respective levels will be as listed below; said rates are effective June 01, 2024 and will be implemented effective January 23, 2025 (state payroll) and 01/31/2025 (city payroll).** Level 1: **$101,762** Level 2: **$111,013** Level 3: **$122,116** *Subject to approval and funding availability, this position may be eligible for a one-time sign-on bonus for hires who are brand new to CUNY.
