Red Ventures is seeking a Writer to join our CNET How-To team. CNET’s global team of editors, reporters, photographers and videographers covers what’s new and why it matters to help our readers navigate accelerating change. 

This Writer will be responsible for identifying, researching, writing and updating FAQs, explainers, tips and other stories on a variety of topics that CNET covers. 

What you'll do

CNET is among the most highly trafficked and trusted names online -- and the How-To team’s mission is to give our readers expert, unique and helpful advice and guidance on the news, events, activities and technologies that touch our lives. 

Your stories will be fact-based and well-sourced, with an apolitical voice, and will help explain what current news, trends and events mean to our readers. You’ll collaborate with How-To teammates and writers from other CNET groups.

Research, pitch and write practical FAQs, explainers and other useful How-To stories on a variety of topics to help our readers better understand a topic. Update stories daily across the How-To category. Collaborate with CNET teams and support How-To stories across CNET’s topic categories.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a curious, motivated, whip-smart writer who is accurate, factual and passionate about service journalism. 

At least two years of professional journalism or commensurate experience.  Self-motivated and detail-oriented writer who can create clear, intelligent copy that explains complicated or confusing concepts in a way that our readers can understand. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. A team player who can collaborate with and take direction and feedback from others.

Compensation

Cash Compensation Range: $50,000-60,000
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
