Continuous Improvement and Training Coordinator

 

The Continuous Improvement and Training Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating hands-on training and ensuring the successful integration of new employees into factory operations. This position involves providing practical training or retraining on assembly procedures, hand tool usage, production software, safety regulations, equipment operation, and executing other factory processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and a commitment to continuous improvement in the training process.

 

When not needed for training, serves as support for the Continuous Improvement department in the factory’s 5S, employee suggestion, Team Health Board and Gemba walk processes.  Assists CI Manager with leading Kaizen events, lean manufacturing training and tool roll-out. The ability to effectively lead events is highly desired.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. 

 

Effectively provide hands-on training for assembly operations, demonstrating proper use of hand tools and procedures. Train employees on the use of production software and equipment, ensuring competency and efficiency. Provide feedback, guidance, and constructive coaching to trainees to enhance their skills and performance. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and practices during training sessions and production activities. Ensure successful integration of trainees from the training line to the live production line, monitoring their performance and providing support as needed. Provide mentorship and facilitation to ambassadors and new employees, fostering their success and development within the organization. Offer ideas and suggestions to improve the training process and enhance productivity.  Communicate progress and feedback to supervisors regularly, addressing any concerns or challenges promptly. Plan, design, and implement LEAN processes in production and office work areas. Train and educate employees in all aspects of LEAN. Ensure that implemented LEAN principles and tools are understood and sustained. Perform other duties as required to support training and production operations effectively.

 

Training Responsibilities:

Train assemblers to perform production responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, mentoring, reviewing feedback and overall ownership for the training program.

Previous experience in manufacturing or assembly operations, with knowledge of hand tools and equipment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to train others effectively and provide constructive feedback. Patient, empathetic, and supportive demeanor when working with trainees. Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing environment. Ability to understand and interpret production metrics and performance indicators. Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and trainees simultaneously. Proactive mindset with a willingness to contribute ideas for process improvement. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Fully understand LEAN principles with a solid working knowledge of LEAN tools. Able to analyze processes/workflow and recommend machinery, hand tools, process improvements, and/or procedures that help improve product quality, reduce lead times, reduce manpower requirements etc. Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements

 

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Other Skills

Ability to use basic hand and machine tools.

While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.

 

Education and/or Experience:

A Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College desired, or a minimum of a two year degree (A.A.) with 3 – 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as deemed appropriate.
