Help us help others, and join Team Unum today! **General Summary:** General Summary This is the second step in a two-level career path in the Continuous Improvement Office. This position is responsible for proactive assessment and identification of business processes that have significant opportunity for improvement in terms of efficiency, quality, and/or customer service. Individual will utilize continuous improvement methodologies to lead, execute, and implement change. Incumbent will work closely with senior leadership and management stakeholders to prioritize and align process improvement opportunities with strategic goals of the Company. Individual has joint ownership, along with senior leadership, for achievement of goals and objectives for assigned projects. This position requires extensive technical skills, analytical skills, and understanding of multiple business areas and functions, balanced with a clear ability to clearly and concisely communicate with management across all levels of the organization. **Principal Duties and Responsibilities** + Play a leadership role in process assessment and present assessment results to applicable business leaders for review/approval to move forward. + Lead mid to larger size projects for the business area(s). These initiatives have an impact on market share, top line growth and bottom line results. + This position will deliver significant and quantifiable process improvement and financial benefit across the organization on assigned projects. + Incumbent will create business plans for selected projects to include accurate cost benefit analysis to assist in the prioritization and sequencing of resource allocation. + Lead by example as an active change agent by leverage influencing skills that come from prior Continuous Improvement experience. + Establishes strong, effective and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, project managers and subject matter experts to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build effective solutions. + Support the business area by evidencing a strong understanding of the strategic direction and goals. Will focus on business performance that constantly strives to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and increase market share via the use of but not limited to Lean Six Sigma tools and other continuous improvement methodologies. + Design improvements that align with strategic objectives, support business goals and deliver efficiency gains to reduce costs to business partners’ operations while continuing to service customers. + Quantifies and develops appropriate cost benefit measures for new or redesigned value-added processes. + This position will share responsibility for planning and assisting in the execution of various Continuous Improvement events and projects targeted towards improving the business’s performance. + This position will provide mentoring/training to Green Belts and CI Consultant I roles on the use and practice of Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Job Specifications** + 5-7 years of continuous improvement experience with knowledge of multiple methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, Kaizen, process re-engineering) + Masters degree or equivalent consulting experience is preferred + Black Belt certification strongly preferred + Results oriented with strong people, thought leadership, and change management skills + Broad business knowledge to include legal, compliance, marketing, finance, operations, and technology concepts + Experience with expense management concepts and cost benefit analysis + Position requires extensive independent interaction with senior level management + Experience managing broad cross functional projects + Demonstrated statistical analysis skills and abilities + Advanced PC skill required (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, MiniTab, etc.) + Experience in evaluating and recommending appropriate, cost effective solutions to business problems + Strong ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment + Proficient at handling multiple priorities, conflict resolution, delegating, team building + Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence various business partners and business leaders in order to drive adoption of change + Strong interpersonal skills with focus on building positive relationships with business partners + Excellent consulting and advisory skills; ability to deal with/think through ambiguity, complex issues, competing priorities and make thoughtful recommendations + Highly effective oral/written communication, facilitation and presentation skills + Proven experience working with all levels of management + Excellent persuasion and influencing skills + Strong training and mentoring skills + Some travel required \#LI-CA1 Unum and Colonial Life are part of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of employee benefits to companies worldwide. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience. $75,500.00-$135,900.00 Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
