Firestone Airide, specializes in air spring manufacturing and technology with a history of more than 80 years of research and development on technologically advanced air springs for the global marketplace. Firestone engineers air springs and related products for commercial trucks and trailers, cars, sport utility vehicles, light trucks, mini vans, motor homes, buses, agricultural equipment, rail and industrial applications.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Coordinator to join our team at the Firestone Airide plant in Williamsburg, KY.

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator will coordinate and oversee plant continuous improvement & training activities, as well as administer IT based solutions that will facilitate audits and CI tracking. In this role you will work closely with the plant staff to identify and prioritize key Continuous Improvement initiatives that align with the plant’s strategic key performance indicators.

This facility produces Air Springs for the Automotive OEM, Automotive aftermarket, Heavy-Duty and Off-Highway industries. More than 550 teammates work in this 433,000 square foot facility, which includes a recently completed 68,000 sq. ft. expansion.

Responsibilities

Develop standard work with the incorporation of takt time, cycle time and line balancing.

Administer IT based audit solutions (i.e., Layered Process Audits, 5S) using web-based solutions.

Create, review and update working standards to incorporate lean principles.

Plan and facilitate kaizen activities with cross-functional teams with tracking of resulting actions.

Assist with both manufacturing and business process studies.

Present kaizen activities and CI results to the plant leadership team.

Support development of continuous improvement training for teammates.

Create and revise forms, one-point lessons, conspicuous standards, and energy control procedures.

Create and revise charts, graphs, and spreadsheets to support achievement of plant objectives.

The role will be responsible for quantifying and tracking CI savings and operational improvements.

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

Strong communication skills are required along with the ability to present to a broad audience.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
