JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:                                                                                               

 

The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead the Sheppard Production System strategy for the facility. This position will monitor quantifiable process improvements across the business and execute lean principles at the manufacturing site in conjunction with other departments. The Manager will need to coach, mentor, and facilitate within the business to create a culture that embraces value stream mapping, waste elimination, standardized work, information flow, problem solving, strategy deployment and continuous improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

Leads the continuous improvement strategy, tactical plan development, and training system. Will manage and develop the lean technician. Drives an understanding of waste and its cost at all levels of the organization. Works with team members to eliminate waste.   Establish annual goals and objectives towards CI maturity. Develops and maintain the necessary policies, records, documentation, procedures, and practices to achieve the objectives and commitments effectively and efficiently to the organization. Establishes continuous improvement roadmap development including tracking and leading project implementation. Champions continuous improvement activities with a focus on measuring, analyzing, and improving KPIs.  Tracks and monitors all focused or continuous improvement projects in the plant to capture costs and savings. Coaches and mentors, the Hanover team in the deployment of CI and tools to the production associate level, key liaison in leading cultural change initiatives. Leads problem solving initiatives and projects at plant, collaborating with others. Understands logistics flow and concepts and initiates process improvements for logistics. Champions daily management system and shop floor management processes across all plant functions. Identification and publication of best practices and lessons learned sharing within the manufacturing plant. Leads the cross functional managers to drive business improvement through continuous improvement deployment. Creates and fosters a teamwork atmosphere that encourages Kaizen activity and supports continuous improvement activity. Organizes teams to identify and implement Kaizen and other improvement activities to ensure they are implemented in a reasonable time frame. Coordinates standard work activity making sure all processes that need standard work and work rules have them. Lead CI and 5S assessments at manufacturing plant, and improvement initiatives. Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns. Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding product quality. Create complete and accurate reports of continuous improvement metrics to be presented to senior executives of the organization. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

BA or BS Degree required in Engineering, or a business field is required, MBA preferred. At least 3 years of related experience is required. Knowledge and experience with Lean principles and methodologies, or similar system Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills working across multiple, locations, all management levels, and functions. Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (value stream mapping, kaizen, 5s, Kanban, etc.) Ability to work well on own with strong planning and organization skills. Ability to meet tight, multiple deadlines and handle various projects and tasks. Strong bias for process improvement. Green Belt certification a plus. Strong systems and data management skills required. Proficiency in Excel and a major ERP system (AS400) Proficient using Microsoft Office: (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
