Continuous Improvement Site Leader

Position Summary:

Regal Rexnord is seeking a Continuous Improvement Site Leader for our Auburn AL. This plant for Couplings is a $140M business, with 200+ associates. This is a critical role to drive growth-focused operations strategy & provides hands-on leadership to a cross functional team. The Site Continuous Improvement Leader drives operational excellence for the site.

Directly reporting to this position could be Continuous Improvement Specialists, Manufacturing Engineers and direct influence of all Couplings dedicated areas of the location.

Within the site, this position will support the organization with achieving SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost-competitiveness), through the effective application of the Regal Business System tools and methodologies, to allow the plant to drive top line revenue growth and bottom-line profitability.  The leader will help develop and implement long and short-term strategic plans to meet the plants’ Targets to Improve (TTIs), drive significant plant Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvements, partnering closely with the site management teams while  supporting the application of the Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) which includes  80/20 methodologies and Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Effective Problem Solving

Partner with EHS manager to maintain a safe work environment that is compliant with all regulations and drive focus on leading environmental health and safety (EHS) metrics and continuous improvement initiatives that promote safety.

With the leadership team, partner to understand the current site business objectives and financial targets, develop a vision for the site's future operational/growth needs and implement a plan to achieve those outcomes.

Provide subject matter expertise across the organization by partnering with functional, business and site leaders to assess current processes and identify process/performance gaps and improvement opportunities. 

Lead and implement process improvement across the value stream to drive SQDCG measures utilizing lean concepts. Key Concepts:  Lean Conversion (5S, flow, standard work, tools/materials at point of use & visual management), visual factory, single (best)  piece flow,  replenishment systems, transactional process improvement techniques, defect reduction and effective daily management.

Manage a robust Regal Business System review process for selecting, scoping, and prioritizing improvement initiatives (i.e. Policy Deployment, CI Roadmap, Kaizens, Projects and CI Talent) to achieve goals. 

Recognized as a leader with the ability to identify, diagnose and solve even the most complex business problems utilizing a fact-based, team-oriented, and structured approach.

Coach, mentor, and train site/functional members on continuous improvement methods based on Subject Matter Expertise.

Drive and exemplify a positive attitude in the face of adversity to solve problems and align a team around effective problem solving.

Skilled and experienced in decomposing a strategic vision into actionable strategies and tactics.

Evaluates, and makes final determination on (with input from plant manager) the process recommendations of manufacturing engineers to ensure they are accurate and consistent with the organization's short-term production plans.

Leads the most complex, large, or difficult process engineering projects and develops innovative approaches to production problems.

Estimates the cost, time and resources required for repair projects; prepares work orders and monitors the progress of work against estimates.

Monitors industry trends and developments in engineering technology and makes recommendations on equipment/systems investments.

Serve as a vital resource and coach for guiding process improvement and Regal Business System deployment across the business. Lead and exemplify the culture of continuous improvement across the organization. 

Effectively engage, coach and communicate with all levels of the organization. 

Energize and engage the organization to progress in long term improvement actions while meeting today's business performance needs. Balance strategy and tactics, helping the organization evolve and achieve its growth ambitions.

Ability to work as a member of the leadership team to develop and communicate a future vision for the business. Garner followership across the organization to progress the transformation to achieve the future state.

Analyze and assess business metrics (SQDCG and financials) and processes across the business to develop impactful improvement strategies.

Ability to accurately assess key business metrics, trends and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view

Identify, coach and engage talent across the business to leverage RBS Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies to support their professional advancement and improve the business's operational performance.

Optimize the talent within the organizational structure and foster an environment to promote individual and team growth.

Train, mentor and build continuous improvement skill and philosophies across the organization.

Knows what good looks like and has the ability to influence, coach, and develop a team.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited university.

Minimum 5 years related work experience, with experience in a manufacturing environment strongly required. 

Proven solid background in metal cutting processes; CNC machining and manual process.

Proven successful applications of multiple CI tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Flow, Standard Work, Visual Management, & Problem Solving.

Transformational attitude and the ability to execute that drives for results.

Team oriented with the proven ability to influence others.

Passionate about problem solving and executing improvements within the business.

Ability to lead and teach a site with a bias for action and a say-do mindset.

Critical thinking skills to properly identify problem area & potential solutions.

Ability to travel up to 15% domestically to other RRX sites. 

Preferred Qualifications

Lean deployment experience 

Industrial industry experience

Advanced  degree preferred.
