Scope of Responsibility:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will partner with relevant teams across the sites to improve performance of the organization by identifying, developing, coordinating, organizing, and executing projects that will directly improve the efficiency of site.
Essential Duties:
Develop, optimize and track KPI’s (key performance indicators) – drive corrective actions if off track. Act as a coach, and subject matter expert driving CI, operational KPI’s and excellence.Executing projects on time and with full buy in of local site leadershipChallenge current processes through demonstrated methodologies and tools as well as provide guidance and knowledge to key operations leadership to lead and change the organization.Create a process improvement culture by using various tools such as: lean, six sigma, waste reduction, shop floor visual management, and others.Lead and facilitate events with cross functional teams to optimize solutions from end to end and drive bottom line improvement.Other duties as assigned, directed, requested, or needed. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or experience in continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing in an engineered to order manufacturing environment
Experience: Minimum 3 years Continuous Improvement, Shop floor Operational roles or similar experience preferred. Desired experience in large engineered to order manufacturing environment. Demonstrated success in bottom line performance improvement through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles. Must have worked in a mature organization relative to operational excellence.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to function as a change agent to quickly develop relationships to drive change. Proven interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written. Strong leadership presence. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to apply Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles in engineered to order manufacturing processes (TAKT Time, Leader Standard Work, Shop Floor Visual Management, Waste Reduction, 5S, Technology Advancements, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Office, TPM)Physical Requirements:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work in a typical office type environment and required work in a manufacturing environment. Environment could be noisy, dusty and will vary in temperature. This person will also on occasion be required to travel to site locations for assessment, facilitation and coaching.Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and rapidly changing priorities.Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or manufacturing plant as needed.Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of fingers, hands, and arms, such as sitting, reaching, typing, and using office equipment.Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and a safety-minded individual.Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and integrate information from all relevant sources.The Specialist must regularly wear protective personal equipment such as steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, and ear plugs.
