Job Description Summary

               

The Continuous Skills Development (CSD) Pillar is an integral component of the Taber facility’s Continuous Improvement program and functions as the center for knowledge transfer to the plant leadership, clerical and hourly Team Members for the Taber manufacturing facility. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will lead the CSD Pillar Team to ensure the implementation of standardized processes in order to establish standard operating skills requirements for each job classification; improve the skill set of individual Team Members to those standards and validate retention of skills by using CSD processes. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work with Managers and Team Leaders to coordinate appropriate resources to facilitate the CSD process, assist in the development and maintenance of training curriculums and training materials for all job classifications, prioritize training and development needs for facility personnel based on pillar work streams and identified losses within the facility, utilize Pillar boards to report on performance against CSD objectives, engage Team Members in the development and maintenance of training material. The Continuous Improvement Specialist must have excellent computer, interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Description

Utilize the continuous improvement tools, processes, and facility resources to develop and administer training programs under the direction of the Plant Leadership Team. 

Ensure all training programs and materials are effective and built to align individual performance with overall organizational objectives across the location.

Streamline training resources to ensure programs are impactful and value-add.

Manage the Alchemy training calendar, courses and completion rates. Report KPIs on Alchemy training to plant leadership and the Corporate CSD team as needed.

Work with all Team Members regularly to job shadow and understand each position in order to create relevant training materials.

Effectively communicate all training programs to plant personnel and management staff. 

Work closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager and the Corporate CSD team to establish standardization and share best practices across the platform.

Assist with managing plant timelines and critical milestones for the food safety and quality improvement plan. 

Assist with internal audit process with regards to training and continuous improvement programs.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, media studies or relevant field would be an asset3 – 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing with specific experience creating and administering training programs considered an assetStrong facilitation skills and ability to engage participants effectivelyExcellent writing skills for creating clear, concise, and engaging training contentKnowledge of instructional design principles and learning theoriesExperience with safety program development considered an assetStrong computer skills to include: Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point and AlchemyExcellent written and oral communication skills are essentialAbility to interface with all levels of the organizationEffective time management and organizational skills
