The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for analyzing and improving business processes to improve safety, quality, productivity and reduce cost together with operations leadership.
The Continuous Improvement Specialist also must lead, co-implement, and maintain all processes, procedures, and system improvements in the manufacturing facilities; these processes and procedures should generate long-term benefits that involve and engage the entire workforce. The continuous improvement methods implemented should include programs such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 8-D, Problem Solving and Value Stream Map and analysis to drive out waste and improve efficiency and productivity.
While based at a single facility, this role is a key position within a team responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across multi-jurisdictions. It will play an important role in helping to foster a culture of sustainable change through implementation and promotion of Lean principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and address root causes of issues negatively impacting manufacturing objectives.Conduct time studies and workflow analyses to improve manufacturing processes.Provide labor ROI and work content data to senior leadership.Implement and maintains processes that sustain continuous improvement gainsReviews and assists with routing and/or other process flows created by manufacturing.Lead studies focused on safety, cost, quality, productivity, flow, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).Lead and coordinates a wide variety of identified and approved initiatives and projects designed to improve processes and performance.Establish, lead, and maintain Continuous Improvement (CI) contributor teams.Facilitate the selection, scoping, and planning of specific improvement initiatives.Set measurable goals for CI events and quantify potential savings.Identify resource requirements and ROI estimates for improvement projects.Lead Kaizen events, document outcomes, and track action plans and results.Monitor and maintain event schedules.Audit event progress to ensure results are achieved and sustained.Resolve implementation issues and manage project communication processes.Participate in new product development and/or product change initiatives.Review and refine QA procedures.Analyze manufacturing processes to identify efficiency gains during new product introductions or product changes.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering is a plus); or 5+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in continuous improvement, including project management and business analysis.Lean certification preferred; Six Sigma certification is a plus.Proficiency in Total Quality Management (TQM) processes.Experience developing employee training programs.Leadership or training experience in addition to industry experience is highly desirable.Proficient in drafting, spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.Expertise in Time and Motion Studies.Familiarity with workflow and methods analysis.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Experience with process automation and technology solutions is a plus.Familiarity with OSHA standards and their application in the workplace.Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
